InDesign

Hi. In a book with continuous text (text boxes linked), I have a style in each new chapter to make sure it starts in a new page. All frames have full justify in VERTICAL alignment, but I wanted something to detect the last frame before the new chapter to make it aligned top. That is because the last frame will probably have much less text and justify it will make it very ugly. Can be a style, script, GREP...Any idea? Many thanks,Luiz

Hi all, I've been using InDesign almost since it came out and have always thought it a brilliant programme, but I'm getting increasingly fed-up with the endless bugs which seem to be almost daily now.I was wondering if anyone has experienced either of these lately, and whether anyone has any fixes or workarounds? 1 - text disappears at random, sometimes a word or sentence at a time, sometimes en-masse, not reappearing until I hit the TAB button to clear /return menus, or otherwise use some workspace setting. This is happening on different machines, with fonts both cloud and local. 2 - I'm finding that even docs I've only just created, using the latest updated version of InDesign, then won't re-open on the same machine they were shut down on only minutes earlier, because they 'were created with a newer version of InDesign'.  In both cases, this obviously stops me in my tracks, usually at a point where production deadlines are bearing down on me. WTF Mr Adobe? Hallo liebe Adobe Experten,ich habe Adobe Creative Suite CS6 auf einem alten Rechner deaktiviert und auf meinem neuen Rechner installliert. Testversion läuft wunderbar, also keine Abhängigkeit von Windows11 etc.In meinen Augen haben die Adobe-Jungs keine Lust mehr auf CS6 sondern wollen lieber ein Abo verkaufen. Vermutlich sind die Server einfach down. Daher meine Frage.Wie bekomme ich die installierte und für teueres Geld als Lifetime-Lizenz gekaufte Version aktiviert?Per Offline Aktivierung etc.! Vielen Dank für die Hilfe... 

For any packaged files (in my case full magazine issues), that have been finalized and moved to a backup drive, cloud storage, etc. InDesign now cannot find the Links folder sitting right next to the layout file without direct intervention. It appears the latest version of InDesign makes all linked files paths "absolute" and is unable to recover or even automatically seek the Links folder. This is the first version of InDesign to have this error (I've used ID since version 1.0). This problem is particularly sinister when utilizing any kind of cloud syncing service (though I suspect CC storage wouldn't be affected) such as Dropbox. Even when a file is fully packaged, if I use my laptop rather than the original workstation to open the fully packaged and synced file, InDesign reports all linked files as missing. I must then relink the files. While having packaged things previously means I only need relink one and the others will be "found," this only works most of the time. I've

I am unable to start/open the MakeGrid script in InDesign. Other scripts open, but since the latest update, the MakeGrid script isn't working. Anybody else having the issue or able to provide a solution?Thank you.

I decided there was a better way to do something and now I've created a mess for myself. At the end of sections of my textbook, I have Important Points boxes:keithconover_0-1767660270446.pngNote that there is an anchored text frame at the top, overyling the top of the main text frame. Some of my Important Points boxes need to continue on the next page. I'd been manually copying and manually cutting and pasting between the two (or three) Important Point boxes, so the second one would look like this:keithconover_1-1767660528552.pngNote that this header box text frame is in the same place, but needs to be longer (manually adjusted) and to say 2/2 rather than 1/2. I have an Object Style for both the tinted big text frame and the header text frame, and the header text frame is linked to the main tinted text frame. After packaging fonts, I need to restart ID 1-2 times before it correctly points to the Document fonts folder in the current directory.Sometimes it fails, which is quite frustrating.

Is it at all possible to link/place files from a MicroSoft Sharepoint site direct to Indesign? I would like to link a Word/Excel file direct to the sharepoint site and avoid using my local one drive. I know i can create a shortcut on my Onedrive from the sharepoint site but i want to keep the path in the links panel direct to the url and not to someones local onedrive which i know it adds when you create shortcuts. Essentially i like to mount a sharepoint site as a direct drive to the mac

Hi all,Unfortenately I have deinstalled my needed InDesign 2024 version by accident.  Now I am not able to install it again, because it was removed from the old versions list. 😞Even if there is a link to a webpage for even older versions, InDesign is not part of the content of the page. 😞Can anyone share with me a link for an installer for the InDesign version 2024 (19.5) for MacOS (apple chip)?Best regards,Heike

When I am placing my word files into InDesign my tables are not moving through my text? Why?

I've been using Command + drag to resize files placed on my InDesign pages for years, and suddenly, for no reason, I can no longer do that. Holding Command and dragging the mouse only resizes the frame, not the content inside the frame with it. I'm now having to go back to clicking between the Selection tool and Direct Selection tool to resize things accordingly. Why did this feature suddenly stop working? I've restarted InDesign twice, tried holding Command+Option+Shift+Control when relaunching it, and tried to change settings but nothing has worked. I haven't changed anything. No updates to the computer or the program, so there's no reason this should just suddenly stop being functional.

I'm having a new problem with the latest version of InDesign 21.0.2 x64.When I scroll with the mouse wheel, sometimes the page becomes unreadable, with a "comet effect" that prevents the page from being displayed correctly.Attached are two screenshots of the "normal" and "comet effect" pages.

I have an InDesign file that the pages are messed up on pages 50-142. The Headers and Subheaders aren't in order and I've tried several ways to fix it, but can't figure it out. The text thread jumps from page 49 to page 87 and I need the pages to be continous with the header and subheader numberings. 

Hi,In my code, I use AttributeBossList::IntersectionContainsDifferences() to locate runs of text of a particular set of attributes. But this function sometimes "fails" when looking for specific font sizes, such as 14.2pt or 18.53pt, for example. I am assuming that, internally, it is looking for an exact match in fixed units, and the conversion used by the SDK seems to differ ever so slightly, depending if one's UI is in points or millimeters, for example.Short of re-writing my own version of AttributeBossList::IntersectionContainsDifferences(), to be able to handle borderline cases, does anyone have any suggestion as to how to loosen the matching criteria used by the SDK ?Or should I use AttributeBossList::ConvertAttributeList() on both sets of attributes, and then do the comparison myself ?Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Very best regards,Olivier

As stated in the title, placing a black rectangle set at 80% opacity over a section of an image brightens the entire image. The black translucent rectangle is being used to make text on the image more legible without completely blocking out the image in that area.  The issue is still there if I move the translucent shape onto another layer, the only way I've found to make the image return to normal is to delete the translucent shape. Nothing is grouped, the image opacity is still set to 100, and I'm working in Europe General Purpose 3 for the colour settings, and it stays when the document is exported to a PDF.If any other details are helpful to diagnose this issue, please let me know.  Is this a known bug or is it affecting the properties of the page somehow? 

Since version 2026 of Indesign, it exports multiple files simultaneously to pdf. I want have to export the same file as a high-res and a low-res.And i don't want it to do it simultaneously, because sometimes images dissapear during export. Is there a way to turn it off? 

Hi everyone,I’ve been working with Adobe Creative Cloud for over 10 years, and I’ve noticed a persistent input lag and UI delay on Windows affecting InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects.Even on high-end PCs, i'm on laptop proart p16 (2025) and strong desktop. Typing letter by letter, clicking text boxes, or interacting with objects shows a noticeable delay. On Mac, the same workflows are instant, proving this is a Windows. I hope Adobe can acknowledge this and prioritize a fix.Thanks.

I created a document in InDesign, shared it for text editing with InCopy on the web (beta). It has been edited as INDDL. How do I save the edited file back to my computer as INDD?

I installed InDesign 2026. I customize the workspace layout the way I want, but when I close the file and reopen it, everything resets to default. I have to rearrange the workspace every time. I didn’t have this issue in InDesign 2025 — it started after installing 2026.
