I have had this issue for a while now, and have been working around, but it’s just getting annoying.  When I start to type the name of the font I want into the drop down box, it won’t find the font I want. In this example I was typing in Poppins, but it gets as far as Po, then won’t go any further than this font. I have to go into the drop down list and scroll until I find the font.The troubleshooting I have done: checked for font filtering. There is no filter applied. Have changed “number of recent fonts to display” to 0. read over the type preferences over and over looking for a setting that will fix thisPlease help. Hi everyone,I'm designing a magazine in InDesign and also creating the adverts that will appear in it. Since I'm handling both the ad creation and the magazine layout, I'm wondering what the best approach is for saving and placing the adverts into the main magazine InDesign document. Normally, I’d export ads as print-ready PDFs to send to a publisher, but since I am the publisher in this case, I’m unsure whether that’s still the best approach. Right now I’m considering three options:Place the original InDesign ad files into the magazine file (File > Place)Copy and paste the original ad content directly into the magazine file (keeping it editable)Export each ad as a print-ready PDF and place those into the magazine fileThe printer provided a custom PDF preset for the final magazine, which I would also use for any ad PDFs if I go that route. Also:Should I convert all text in the ads to outlines before placing them in the magazine? In InDesign 2026 v21.6, where is Generative Fill (beta)? Is it gone? Is it renamed? My version of InDesign v21.6 does not show it anywhere.

Recently I’ve noticed in InDesign this blue circle with a “T” is on all of my photos. Is there a way to shut this off so I don’t have to look at the description of my photos?  I don’t need this when creating projects.Thanks in advance. 

I am assembling a book and have discovered some text crossing columns as shown on the attachment. I have no clue as to how it happened, or how to fix it. I have used indesign since verrsion 2 and have never seen this before. Can anyone help?Thanks to those who know more than me,Joe

Over the last week or so everytime I launch InDesign I am met with the attached dialog box. "You cannot reverse this change with the Edit > Undo command" It is persistent and getting worse. It will now launch randomly whilst I'm working. It is making InDesign almost unusable and destroying my worklfow and concentration. How on earth can I stop this occuring? I've tried Resetting Warning Dialogs to no avail. I've seen this posted elsewhere without any solution. Can someone at Adobe please respond – its driving me nuts.

My mac mini M2 running MacOS Sequoia 15.5 won't voice read text I've typed into an Indesign document. All it says is "Adobe stock 2025" whether I have the cursor in the text box or have text highlighted to be voice read. How do I get my Mac mini M2 running MacOS Sequoia 15.5 to voice read the text I've typed with a True Type font in Indesign. I've  retyped in Indesign using an Open Type and the same thing happens.

Since `IDataBase::Clone()` is not marked "For Private Use Only," is it safe to use?

I’m on an iMac working in InDesign 20.1.1 and I have a table set up in a booklet that I had to squish vertically. Lots of copy was being added, which meant additional rows and the table was flowing off the bottom.  The only way to force the table to be the size for the page was to compress it vertically. When I did that, the horizontal lines were also altered.I tried to fix the horizontal stroke lines so they were consistently .05” stroke weight, but no matter how I tried to do it it WILL NOT change them ‘globally’. Meaning, when I select/highlight the entire table, try to change just the bottom stroke to .05” to make the lines all the same ( as on other pages), it will appear as though I’ve changed it but when I highlight individual row, it’s not. I’ve had to go through and highlight/select each and every row to make this change which is INFURIATINGLY stupid.And I tried this three different ways:First manually, as described above - no global change Second, I selected/highlighted the w

Emergency situation. I’ve had to delay publication because of a critical problem and my entire business depends on fixing it in the next two days or less.Last year the on-screen-only PDF version topped out about 67 MB. Big but manageable. This year it’s over 165 Mb. This year was slightly bigger (a few more pages added but all vector animations and text). The size of the full .indd file went up from about 490 Mb to 692 MB. When I save-as it reduces to 386 until it’s opened.Adding about a dozen vector images and text frames shouldn’t add 100 MB to a PDF, when downsampling is deeply constricted in size reduction (96/144, Medium resolution). I have an absolute ton of internal and external hyperlinks, cross-references and so on. Graphics aside from the cover are reasonably small for the most part, although there may be a handful that are a bit bigger.What can I check and compress to make this a lot smaller? My hosting server will not allow a file that big, and I doubt my customers want a 1

Recently updated to InDesign 20.1. When I click on any box or shape, text or picture it takes 10-15 seconds before it shows that it is selected. Sometimes I can move/edit the box although it doesn't have the blue lines indicating it is selected. Other times, I can not. Selecting multiple items often crashes InDesign. Today I selected to text boxes and a picture. Crash. As a result to the time killing aspect of the update, I have had no choice but to revert to InDesign 2024. (19.5.2), which you might imagine, is also an inconvenience.  I am running Sonoma 14.4.1 on M1, 2021 iMac with 16 Gb Ram. 

I am using InDesign 21.6 on Mac. When I open the Paragraph Style Options and I want to edit the Font family, the dropdown menu seems to be bigger than my actual screen, and I cannot scroll all the way to the end of the list. See screenshot below.I am using a two screen setup: an external monitor as the main screen, and the built-in MacBook screen as a secondary, underneath the external one. However, the dropdown also does not extend to the MacBook screen. Is this a bug in InDesign or can I adjust some settings to fix this issue?Thanks in advance!   

Hi all!I would like to swap the left and right pages. What is the fastest way to do this in InDesign 2026? The background needs to remain in place; only the text, red shapes, white text, and images with white borders should be flipped and swapped between pages.Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello everyone.This image has been inserted into the text and contains unnecessary frames.Now I just want to keep the innermost image and outermost frame, delete the remaining extra frames, and keep the image in its original inserted state in the text.Can it be implemented using scripts?Thanks

FAME-TO-CONNECT); ）It seems to have no effect on width.I guess this involves two steps:Firstly, set the text frame to automatically adjust to: height and width, without line breaks.Secondly, set the text frame to automatically adjust to 'none'.I don't know, is this safe?or , Is there still a better idea? 

InDesign 21.6, MacOS Tahoe 26.7.1 I have Pantone swatches in my InDesign ranging from 100C-7771C, so roughly 6,000 or so. Perhaps that is the problem right there, I’m not sure. When customizing seemingly any color in a Table Style, Table Border eg, my swatches display from 100C-4270. This leaves thousands of swatches missing and means any new swatch that I add, since they default to the bottom, do not show up. A workaround to this are to move a new swatch all the way up to the top which is incredibly tedious when I have thousands of swatches to scroll past. You can also sort by name or swatch value which will change the list but still only show a set amount.  I’ve refrained from making a UserVoice as it may be uncommon to have thousands of swatches.. but interested to see if anyone else sees this behavior.  

I always mistakenly believed that appliedObjectStyle included fillColor.For example, I want to achieve the effect of a pipette drawing a pattern.There are two objects, A and B. I want to quickly copy the fillColor, stroke, and shadow of A to B, but I noticed that they overlap each other.How to prevent the color filling and effects from overlapping?var d = app.activeDocument;var item = d.selection[0];var sel = d.selection;sel[1].fillColor = sel[0].fillColor;sel[1].appliedObjectStyle = sel[0].appliedObjectStyle;This sentence doesn't seem to work either.sel[1].appliedObjectStyle = sel[0].appliedObjectStyle; 

When using Keep Options to disallow widows in InDesign, paragraphs will randomly break in the middle of pages. I've been following the correct instructions for disallowing widows—keeping lines together at the start and end of paragraphs with 1 line at the start and 2 at the end (I’ve also tried this with 2 lines at the start, but that doesn’t help the issue). When the breaks fall in the middle of pages, there’s nothing that I can do to fix it. I’ve tried adding a return after the broken paragraph to see if that will help it to move to the correct page, but it doesn’t work. I’ve also tried lengthening and shortening the text box, and that doesn’t work either. Also, weirdly, this only happens with some documents, not all. Is this a glitch, and if so, what can be done to fix it?

Over the past few days I've been looking into methods to either set up, generate or manage restaurant menus variably. One of my clients is a hospitality group that owns a few different restaurants, most of which I designed the menus for. However they often simultaneously update their menus and prices for all locations which results in quite a laborious proces that leaves a lot of room for human error. This because theres multiple variants of the same menu in use at different shapes and sizes. (For instance within the restaurant, outdoors on the wall, in front of the restaurant in a display, some have menu's behind the counters etc.) Which makes it quite easy to miss a value or some textual tweak. What I would ideally like to do is hand the restaurant managers an excel sheet that follows a specific format and based off of this generate the individual menus or change details where need be. (for instance containing: menu item, title, type, price, description, etc.) I've bee

I think this might be a problem related to text wrap, because I previously put a block of text with text wrap and now apparently doesn’t have it (even though it does). So when I check for this text box (image below) it has no text wrap either but that might not be the case. There’s no appearance panel so I’m not sure how I should check this. 

Ever since the last updated, drop shadows aren't displaying properly when exporting PNGs from Indesign. There are a couple of threads, but no solutions, It's becoming annoying, as the workaround is to close the app completely and reopen the file. Totally messes the workflow.
