Wide monitors (as docking stations) is the new thing now.As I don’t think this is possible as of today in InDesign, is it possible to increase number of spreads sideways on a monitor? For a standard magazine, pages on a spread shows like this: | 12 | 34 | 5etc.So I am wondering if it’s possible to go to: | 1 2 | 34 | 5 6 | 7etc.Or is this a feature you don’t recommend?
I have a project in InDesign (PC, Win11Enterprise, i7 12th gen, 32Gb Ram, Nvidia RTX4000 12Gb graphics card). When I open it, it says there is a font missing - Avenir Oblique (I use Avenir Regular in the document).I open [Replace fonts]When I click [Find First], nothing happens. When I click [More info], it shows:Restrictions: Unknown (font is missing)Path: Unknown (font is missing)Character Count: 0Style count: 0Pages: none.So it implies that the font is not used … so how comes it’s “missing”? I can’t, visually, find where it is so I’m stumped and I want to get rid of this annoying pop-up … but it might mean something.Any ideas?Thank you,Johnny
Hi, I’ve updated my InDesign to version 21.5.1 yesterday and noticed, that in Data Merge, it stopped supporting danish letters in the .csv’s column names. It changes the letters to a random character, so the data merge function doesn’t work anymore because it can’t figure out the link between the .csv and the placeholders. My job relies heavily on data merge so I rolled the update back to 21.4.1 and it works perfectly. I hope the bug will soon be resolved.
I am finding that my computer is heating up to an unusual level and the fans are activating when I use InDesign, even though the tasks I’m performing are very basic and not at all demanding of the processor. My computer is a MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip, purchased in April this year, so it should easily be capable of performing these tasks without needing to activate the fans to cool itself down.My version of InDesign is definitely up to date and I have tried uninstalling InDesign and reinstalling. Is anyone else finding that Indesign is putting unreasonable demands on their processor?
I’ve been using a competing vector program for creating braille signage and wondered if there was any plans on having this be something Illustrator or Indesign could incorporate natively so that I can stop using the other program entirely? The workflow currently with adobe products is:go to some conversion web page like brailletranslator.org paste text in for the conversion, copy results go back into my Indesign doc using a braille font with a CA Standard paragraph style (that I’ve created)This works for making 1-10 signs, but I’d prefer to have this be something I was able to merge from a CSV file as we typically need to create 100 individual signs at a time--which the competing program will also not do. It does however have a TEXT TO BRAILLE and BRAILLE TO TEXT option from the TEXT menu and a panel that looks a little like this:

HelloFor some reason my page 1 in indesign file is not looking like the master page. I also could not use Remove Local Overrides as it is greyed out. Also applying master page to page 1 is not working.I face this problem frequently. Temporarily I create a new file and redo everything to clear out. But this is taking lot of time. How can I correct this in the current file. I have attached indd file. Thanks
I am writing this post to express my deepest dissatisfaction and outrage regarding the performance management in the latest InDesign 2026 update. It is completely unacceptable for professional software to restrict my workflow based solely on my monitor's resolution. I own an excellent workstation equipped with an 11th Gen Intel Core i5 processor, 32 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 dedicated graphics card. This hardware is more than capable of handling any editorial project seamlessly.Yet, due to an absurd development decision, InDesign 2026 completely blocks hardware acceleration (GPU Performance), displaying the message: "No compatible monitor and GPU detected." My peripherals and the resolution I choose to work with are my decisions; Adobe should not care about or condition them. It is unheard of that for the software to run decently, users are practically forced to buy a new monitor or rely on virtual rescaling workarounds.Instead of optimizing the code, we are forced into
We're working with the latest version of InDesign and have noticed that fonts packaged from InDesign are exported to epub files but don't display correctly on Kindle e-readers. We've tried replacing the packaged fonts with both licensed and free fonts, without obfuscation. We've found that the fonts become corrupted and invisible on e-readers after being packaged by InDesign. The only solution is to replace the fonts with the non-packaged ones, which can be downloaded again from Google Fonts. Is there an InDesign solution that avoids having to replace them again?
Hi everybody,I recently had an issue in InDesign that prevented me from exporting my document.Every time I tried to export it would come up with an error message saying '’Possible cause of failure is present on spread with page number 24’ We tried deleting the spread and then the same error message would pop up but with a different page number ''Possible cause of failure is present on spread with page number 9'’ and it kept moving. All the links were working, and we have used this template hundreds of times and never had any issues. My colleague seems to think it could be due to slow internet and the document was having trouble finding the files to export. Could this be the case?Any suggestions are appreciated as this caused us to miss a tender submission deadline and we really don't want it happening again.Thank you
I was attempting to do some basic tasks with Flex Layout in InDesign PC. After about a half-dozen things were tried InDesign completely froze, the process had to be stopped and the program re-launched. This is 100% repeatable behavior, whether with an existing file open or with a new file open. Everything else with ID is fine, just whenever I try to use Flex.I can work around this by never using it (I never did before), but since there’s a risk of document corruption when I force-close I.D. I’m wondering what’s going on.
In the latest update of InDesign when I have multiple shapes and frames on the page selected, if my cursor is above something like a rectangle with content/picture inside it, I only move the picture that is below it at the time. Rather than the whole selection of objects as it used to. I tested before and after the update and it was something that only broke with 21.4. If I cursor over a solid shape object while still selecting the entire group (including the photo frame) that then moves the entire section but only if cursor above a placed fill object does it break. What could possibly be happening?

I'm tearing my hair out here! InDesign (and Photoshop to a lesser degree) has decided to suddenly start crashing at random times. It will be ok for a little while, then I get the rolling beach ball and have to force quit. When I reopen it, sometimes it lets me do a few things then crashes, sometimes it's straight away. I've tried uninstalling cc and all the apps, I've tried deleting anything cc related in the activity log , restarting etc. Nothing works. Please help!
I am not able to save to my FileServers after updating to InDesign 21.5.1.I am boring on an iMac with OS 26.6.2. When I try save the file locally it’s OK.On the server a file is placed but it’s empty 0Kb.I have tried on different servers with the same problem.
I am working on making the digital version of our document accessible. The math equations were placed into the InDesign (v 21.3) document using the Math Expressions (MathML) panel. After exporting the document to PDF with the “Create Tagged PDF” option enabled and running an accessibility check, the equations were flagged for alt‑text issues. There are more than 200 equations in our document, so I am looking for an alternative to creating alt-text for each of them. What is the most efficient way to resolve this accessibility problem?
Just discovered an issue that I found someone else had last year on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/indesign/comments/1k0i25a/old_style_figures_not_consistently_applied_in/I have page numbers automatically added to the foot of each page set in Garamond Premier Pro Caption using OpenType Old Style figures. All fine until I reach pages 100+. The last digit reverts to Lining, not Old Style. Illustrated is the automatic page number, with the same digits entered into a separate text box (reversed as selected when I screen-grabbed).This is not a charater style or Drop Cap paragraph style. Something related to the “Current Page Number” special character (⌘3). If I add another Current Page Number to the page, the same error occurs…Any ideas?
I have an interactive PDF with ToC so the reader can click on the title and go to it. But, they can't come back unless they scroll back. How can I create a hyperlink or button on each page or at each title that takes them back to ToC? The PDF is created from InDesign so I need to be able to do this in InDesign. Thanks.
InDesign 2026. I have UXP scripts that can run for a long time - walking every story in alarge document, adding many pages, and so on. I would like to (a) show the user that work isin progress, and (b) let them stop it partway through.I cannot find a way to do either, and I would like to know whether I am missing something orwhether this genuinely is not available in UXP.
Bonjour!
Help. I think I really messed up initially setting up my pages, and I don’t want to have to start my work over. I thought I was designing something on a letter-sized page, but when I export to PDF, it only captures part of the document. And when I use the page tool, it only selects a tiny box on the layout. How do I adjust the content to fit the letter page without starting over?
For some reason my CC library palette is vibrating. The bottom of the palette with the clould icon and the lock icon are flickering, and the scrollbar 'thumb' is flickering too. The only reference I can find to this issue is at this link in UserVoice:CC Libraries palette vibrates nonstop Anyone else have this issue? Is there anything that works to fix it? I'm on ID 20.5 on a 2023 Mac Studio running Sequoia 15.6.1. Thanks!Maurice
I have a document that was first written as several sections with many pages per section. I need to seperate them into chapters. So I need to know how to unthread text frames so I break the link from one text frame but keep the sections together. ie: Doc has 30 pages and is 3 seperate topics of ten pages each. How do I keep pages 1-10 linked and break 10 to 11 then keep 11-20 linked and break 20-21 and keep 21-30 linked? IN-Design CS5 And I have tried both scripts break frame and split story and they are not what I want. Why does this not work?Unthread text framesWhen you unthread a text frame, you break the connection between the frame and all subsequent frames in the thread. Any text that previously appeared in the frames becomes overset text (no text is deleted). All subsequent frames are empty.Using the Selection tool, do one of the following:Double-click an in port or out port to break the connection between frames.Click an in port or an o
