Hi, I'm having a problem with CC Particle World that I'm unsure how to solve. I am trying to do a "laser printing effects". I have a shape layer with a path. I attached the null object to this path to follow the trim path end. Then I attach CC Particle World producer positions to follow the null. It looks fine, but when I add the camera and start rotating the producer position is off. Is it possible to ensure that the producer is always positioned on the surface of the shape layer, regardless of the camera's position and rotation?I would appreciate help with that. I attached the project file.

Hi, I've basically been given two different illustrations where the strokes are curved differently, and trying to find a way to animate between the two. I can accomplish that by keyframing the path of the first stroke, then copying the path of the second stroke, and pasting it further down the timeline. However, when it's transitioning, there are some sharp corners that form, that don't really fit the fluidity of what I'm going for. I'm guessing this is in part because the first path has more points than the ending path. Is there any way to remedy this besides going in manually and adjusting the anchor points? Some sort of smoothing method?Thank you.

When using the Roto Brush effect, 'Reset' should initialize the effect to the state it was when applied to a layer for the first time. But unfortunately it does not. Reproduce:Choose the Rotobrush tool, start painting on footage. Hit reset. See how the paint strokes still remain.

This is a very simple and straightforward composition with simple effects like levels and only keyframes of scale and position. It was doing okay the previous day and then one time I purged all memory & disk cache then this happened. I'm only having problem with this project. Whenever I interact with any part of After Effects—such as opening the Window menu, stopping the preview, starting the preview, selecting a composition, clicking a layer, or even deselecting one—the application briefly freezes, and my Mac cursor changes to the spinning loading (wait) indicator before responding. This delay occurs consistently with nearly every click or action, making the interface feel unresponsive and sluggish.Additionally, I have a third-party plug-in, FX Console, and whenever I use my assigned shortcut keys to open its search bar, After Effects freezes momentarily, shows the loading cursor, and then nothing appears—the FX Console panel fails to open altogether.

I imported an illustrator file into Aftereffects and then noticed I needed to make some adjustments (these adjustments were mainly putting shapes into new groups so that I could manupulate them in Aftereffects better.)I have live update enabled in Aftereffects , so after I finished my adjustments I clicked save on the Illustrator file. When I went back to Aftereffects, I saw that the shapes I placed into the new groups were gone completely, and only the old groups remained. I tried looking in the composition and the file layers in imported files column, but no luck. Reload footage seems to be disabled.  Is there any way to fix this? I know a quick fix would be to re-import the scene, but I want to know for the future in case I'm deep into a project and have to do this without reseting the transforms and layering done within Aftereffects.

I stopped using after effects for about a month, tried opening it and had this problem, not really sure what could be causing this problem, ive uninstalled after effects and creative cloud as a whole but that did nothing. Ive tried starting in administrator, deleting my preference folder, allowing all adobe software through my firewall. I cant really think of anything else to try so if anyone has any ideas please let me know, if you need more information let me know.Thanks   Title edited by Mod.

Hello, I have a question and I hope somebody can help. I'm trying to open an After Effects file of an animation I've made in 2023. When I open it, the loading bar gets stuck at 97% and also the program doesn't respond so I have to force quit it.I already tried to empty the cache, download an older version and open the file in it, restarted my macbook, but nothing seems to work.Is there anything else I can try? Hope there is a solution for it.

Hi everyone;In After Effects, how can I make a layer in one composition follow the change of this property: comp("Master_1").layer("Mask").content("Ellipse_2").content("Ellipse Path 1").size …but start from the beginning of its own composition, instead of syncing to the timeline of “Master_1”?Basically, I want the “size” animation to play from the start, regardless of where the follower’s timeline currently is. Thanks! 

I got a simple animation of a shape layer that moves into frame and its size is controled by sliders on its layer and also a couple of sliders on a "ctrl" layer as well. The feature I'm implementing at the time is to have a image file to be masked by this shape layer and also move along staying perfectly centered using sourceRectAtTime();. (this part I removed from my files for simplicity sake) But this image kept moving in weird pattern and on a uncalled time. I got a text layer checking for the values for the sourceRectAtTime(); and for some reason the animation I did from 0 to 10f is not accounted untill the playhead reaches the 1 second mark.that looks like a bug to me. I removed everything else but the things that are essencial for this layer to work. Tested on AE 25.5.0 (build 4) and AE 24 24.6.4(build 3)

In Photoshop I can copy a flat grayscale image with no transparency and paste it into the layer mask to create a mask from that image. Is this somehting that can be done in After Effects with masks?  Basically like this gif, only the ref would be the video  

So let me preface this by stating that I am an utter and complete noob.  I've been tasked with creating some training videos and I am working on the outro for those videos.  I found some how to videos on YouTube that show how to make text appear to vanish into dust.Video 1 - Ryan Shirley Video 2 - Smertimba Graphics Both show essentially the same steps and I have followed them exactly.  My end results, however, don't look like theirs.  The particles are restricted to the bounding box for the text object. How do I get the particles to move beyond the text?  I thought that is what CC Composite was suppoosed to do.  I'm sure I'm missing something.  Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone, I've recently encountered an issue in After Effects that displays Unknown BIB Error. CT bad param: invalid CTCapStyle, Brv, 0 (83 :: 3) when I try to paste any text from Illustrator, even after 'Paste text without formatting' is disabled. I've attempted to do it on other versions of AE installed on my computer (23.6.2, 24.1.0 & 25.3.2) and AI (28.7.1 & 29.6.1), but the issue continues. Basically whichever version it is, the same issue recurs even though it was working fine a few days ago, possibly after I removed a Helvetica Neue font after it was being misread as the default UI font for my computer (?) But I've tried out the clearing font cache and ArialMT methods but it didnt work. I work on Windows version 10 if it helps!

Issue - typing in a new frame number in a time remap parameter in the timeline produces the wrong number. Steps to reproduce - 1. take a footage layer, set it to 'freeze current frame' 2.edit the frame number in the text field next to time remap in the timelineExpected result - it should show the correct numberActual result -  it shows the wrong number. the workaround is to carefully drag the text slider to the correct number.Adobe After Effects version - this bug has been present at least since 2020 until 2025Operating system - Windows 10 or 11GPU driver version (Windows only) - any driver version

every time i try and set it up it bugs and says error code 127, so then when i go and find error code 127 and see how i can fix it, it ends up telling me to go to the adobetemp which i cant find in files help pls   [moving to the correct community, as this is about After Effects and not about Lightroom Classic - Mod.]

Someone please help me for the past 2 days I've been stuck, I'm using the beta versions of premiere and after effects, whenever I try importing my project from premiere into AE, everything goes into after affects like the captions and sounds ETC, but my b roll/footage is just black and not showing up. Please help 

I'm testing scriptui panels by launching them from VSC, the problem is when the panel loses focus it goes behind the main window. The only way to get access to the panel is to shrink the main window to reveal thepanel hiding in the background, supoer nnoying. I've been editing a video for a day and this morning when I went to play "Cached Preview Needs 2 or More Frames to Playback" pops up. I've tried purging and putting it in Quater or Custom but nothing works.I've tired putting more ram in but whenever I change it and look back it goes right back to 0 and I don't know how to fix..    Title edited by Mod.
