There's a reason editors have been talking about automatic track creation in Premiere Pro for years. When you inserted a source clip with more audio channels than your sequence had tracks, Premiere would automatically create the additional tracks. For some workflows, that was helpful. For many editors, it was one of the first preferences they wanted to change.Back in March, editor Scott Simmons highlighted the new option in the Premiere Pro beta that finally addressed this long-standing request. Now it's available for everyone. As of Premiere Pro 26.3, you can decide how this works.Head to Settings > Timeline and uncheck Add tracks automatically when editing source clips. That's it. With the preference disabled, Premiere no longer creates tracks automatically when you insert or overwrite clips. Instead, your sequence stays exactly as you've built it. If you need additional tracks, you can add them yourself when you're ready. For editors who prefer to define their timeline structure up

🧭 Navigate Faster with Sequence IndexTL;DRSequence Index is a navigation tool, not an edit panel It surfaces clips and titles instantly It’s ideal for large or long timelinesWhy Sequence Index ExistsScrolling long timelines is slow. Adobe Since NAB 2026 — What Editors Should KnowA lot was announced at NAB in April. A few months on, it's worth taking stock of what actually shipped, what's evolved, and what's now available to try — because the landscape looks meaningfully different from where it did on the show floor.Color Mode in Premiere (Beta) — Now Award-WinningThis was the headline at NAB, and it's held up. Color Mode won Best Software at NAB 2026, which is a meaningful signal for a feature that was still in beta at the time.If you haven't explored it yet, the short version: it's a full redesign of the color workflow inside Premiere — not an update to Lumetri but a dedicated grading environment built alongside working editors over several years.Key capabilities:32-bit color processing GPU acceleration (NVIDIA RTX) Dedicated workspace: Color Monitor, Clip Grid, Color Controls, Comparison View, Video ScopesIt's still in beta and the team is actively taking feedback. 📏 Changing Track Size in the TimelineTL;DRTrack height affects visibility, not playback or export Taller tracks reveal more waveform detail This is a timeline view preference — not a sequence setting Multiple methods exist: drag, scroll shortcuts, keyboard shortcuts, and saved presetsThe Common ConfusionUsers often assume track size affects:Audio loudness ❌ Waveform resolution ❌ Export output ❌It only affects what you see while editing. Why Adjust Track SizeIncrease track height to:Make waveform transients clearer Align edits more precisely Reduce eye strain on dense timelinesHow to Adjust Track HeightManual dragHover over the dividing line between tracks in the track header area and drag up or down. Easy to find, but harder to get consistent sizes across tracks.Double-click the track headerDouble-click the gray track header to toggle between standard and expanded height. Quick way to reset a track if it's gotten out of hand. Audio tracks will also expand to reveal their L/R channel br

Hey all—Wanted to flag something that might be relevant depending on the kind of work you’re doing:Frame.io now supports 3D assets directly in the player, which is a pretty meaningful expansion beyond video and design files. At a high level, you can now upload, view, and collaborate on 3D models in the same way you would any other asset. (help.frame.io) What this actually looks like in practiceOnce a 3D file is uploaded, it behaves pretty similarly to other media in Frame.io—but with a dedicated viewer: You can rotate and inspect the model interactively (click + drag, zoom, etc.) There’s a turntable-style control for reviewing all angles Comments and feedback stay tied directly to the asset You can version, share, and manage it like anything else in your project (help.frame.io) So instead of exporting stills or screen recordings for review, you’re working with the actual object. Supported formats (and what that really means)There’s pretty broad format support here, including thing

Version 26.2.2 fixes a critical stability issue that was causing Premiere to hangIf you've been battling freezes and hangs in Premiere 26.2 or 26.2.0, this one's for you.The FixAdobe has released Premiere 26.2.2, which addresses a critical stability issue that was causing the application to hang. If you updated to 26.2 or 26.2.0 and found yourself staring at a frozen timeline — or worse, reverting to an older version just to get a job out the door — this patch is specifically aimed at that. The fix came out of internal engineering diagnostics and was corroborated by a clear pattern in community reports. You weren't imagining it, and you weren't alone. Why It MattersStability fixes don't get the spotlight that new features do, but for working editors they're often the most important updates Adobe ships. A hang mid-edit isn't just an annoyance — it's lost time, broken focus, and in deadline-driven work, it can cost real money. The fact that multiple users independently identified 26.0.2 a

🔇 Global Mute in Adobe Premiere (What It Actually Does) TL;DRGlobal Mute silences monitoring only It does not affect exports It’s a playback convenience—not an audio changeThe Mistake People MakeUsers enable Global Mute and believe:Audio is muted in export ❌ Tracks are disabled ❌Neither is true. When to Use Global MuteReviewing visuals without distraction Working in shared spaces Quickly muting playback during detailed edits📎 Resources: Help Documentation: Global MuteBlog Post by Product Manager Adolfo H. in the Adobe Premiere Beta Forum here

Hey all—Now that the official announcement is out, I wanted to share a few thoughts on Frame.io Drive and what it changes in practice. At a high level, Frame.io projects can now mount directly to your desktop, so media shows up in Finder (Mac) or Explorer (Windows) like a local drive. The interesting part is that you can start working with files immediately — without downloading them first. What that looks likeOnce Frame.io Drive is installed, you can open media directly in Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and other creative tools. Files stream as needed, while frequently used media gets cached locally over time.So instead of:download → organize → relink → start workingit starts to feel more like:mount → open → workThat may sound subtle, but if you regularly deal with large media, shared storage, or distributed teams, it changes a pretty familiar part of the workflow. Why I think this mattersWhat stood out to me pretty quickly is that you stop thinking about “moving media” as a sepa
