I am writing this post to express my deepest dissatisfaction and outrage regarding the performance management in the latest InDesign 2026 update.It is completely unacceptable for professional software to restrict my workflow based solely on my monitor's resolution. I own an excellent workstation equipped with an 11th Gen Intel Core i5 processor, 32 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 dedicated graphics card. This hardware is more than capable of handling any editorial project seamlessly.Yet, due to an absurd development decision, InDesign 2026 completely blocks hardware acceleration (GPU Performance), displaying the message: "No compatible monitor and GPU detected." My peripherals and the resolution I choose to work with are my decisions; Adobe should not care about or condition them. It is unheard of that for the software to run decently, users are practically forced to buy a new monitor or rely on virtual rescaling workarounds.Instead of optimizing the code, we are forced into

We're working with the latest version of InDesign and have noticed that fonts packaged from InDesign are exported to epub files but don't display correctly on Kindle e-readers. We've tried replacing the packaged fonts with both licensed and free fonts, without obfuscation. We've found that the fonts become corrupted and invisible on e-readers after being packaged by InDesign. The only solution is to replace the fonts with the non-packaged ones, which can be downloaded again from Google Fonts. Is there an InDesign solution that avoids having to replace them again?

Hi everybody,I recently had an issue in InDesign that prevented me from exporting my document.Every time I tried to export it would come up with an error message saying '’Possible cause of failure is present on spread with page number 24’ We tried deleting the spread and then the same error message would pop up but with a different page number ''Possible cause of failure is present on spread with page number 9'’ and it kept moving. All the links were working, and we have used this template hundreds of times and never had any issues.My colleague seems to think it could be due to slow internet and the document was having trouble finding the files to export. Could this be the case?Any suggestions are appreciated as this caused us to miss a tender submission deadline and we really don't want it happening again.Thank you

I'm tearing my hair out here! InDesign (and Photoshop to a lesser degree) has decided to suddenly start crashing at random times. It will be ok for a little while, then I get the rolling beach ball and have to force quit. When I reopen it, sometimes it lets me do a few things then crashes, sometimes it's straight away. I've tried uninstalling cc and all the apps, I've tried deleting anything cc related in the activity log , restarting etc. Nothing works. Please help!

Ich habe seit einem Dropbox-Absturz und einem Indesignabsturz ein reproduzierbares Problem mit Adobe InDesign. System macOS Tahoe 26.6.2, InDesign 21.5.1 und die aktuelle Dropbox Desktop Version. Seit dem Dropbox-Absturz sind in allen bestehenden InDesign-Dokumenten verknüpfte Bilder betroffen. Die Verknüpfungen werden als korrekt angezeigt und ich kann die Dateien aus InDesign im Finder und in Photoshop öffnen. Trotzdem werden fast alle Bilder nur als graue Kästen oder völlig kaputt in der "Anzeige mit hoher Qualität" dargestellt. In der "normalen Ansicht sind die Bilder sichtbar.Das fast schlimmere Problem: PDF-Export schlägt wegen dieser Bilder fehl.  und verpacken geht auch nicht.Ich habe bereits Folgendes versucht:InDesign aktualisiert. macOS aktualisiert, Voreinstellungen zurückgesetzt, IDML-Export getestet, TIFF-Dateien lassen sich überall öffnen. I am working on making the digital version of our document accessible. The math equations were placed into the InDesign (v 21.3) document using the Math Expressions (MathML) panel. After exporting the document to PDF with the “Create Tagged PDF” option enabled and running an accessibility check, the equations were flagged for alt‑text issues. There are more than 200 equations in our document, so I am looking for an alternative to creating alt-text for each of them. What is the most efficient way to resolve this accessibility problem?

Just discovered an issue that I found someone else had last year on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/indesign/comments/1k0i25a/old_style_figures_not_consistently_applied_in/I have page numbers automatically added to the foot of each page set in Garamond Premier Pro Caption using OpenType Old Style figures. All fine until I reach pages 100+. The last digit reverts to Lining, not Old Style. Illustrated is the automatic page number, with the same digits entered into a separate text box (reversed as selected when I screen-grabbed).This is not a charater style or Drop Cap paragraph style. Something related to the “Current Page Number” special character (⌘3). If I add another Current Page Number to the page, the same error occurs…Any ideas?  

I have an interactive PDF with ToC so the reader can click on the title and go to it. But, they can't come back unless they scroll back. How can I create a hyperlink or button on each page or at each title that takes them back to ToC?  The PDF is created from InDesign so I need to be able to do this in InDesign. Thanks.

InDesign 2026. I have UXP scripts that can run for a long time - walking every story in alarge document, adding many pages, and so on. I would like to (a) show the user that work isin progress, and (b) let them stop it partway through.I cannot find a way to do either, and I would like to know whether I am missing something orwhether this genuinely is not available in UXP.

Bonjour!Sous windows 10 au lancement de indesign 2025 j'ai le message d'erreur suivant : l'application n'as pas réussi à démarrer correctement (0xc0000142). Cliquer sur ok pour fermer l'application. J'ai essayé de réparer d'éventuelle erreur fichier, j'ai aussi tout désinstallé et tout réinstaller en suppriment les anciennes versions ainsi que les préférences, mais rien n'y fait !  Avez-vous une idée du problème ? Sachant que sous la version 2024, cela fonctionne parfaitement

Help. I think I really messed up initially setting up my pages, and I don’t want to have to start my work over. I thought I was designing something on a letter-sized page, but when I export to PDF, it only captures part of the document. And when I use the page tool, it only selects a tiny box on the layout. How do I adjust the content to fit the letter page without starting over? 

For some reason my CC library palette is vibrating. The bottom of the palette with the clould icon and the lock icon are flickering, and the scrollbar 'thumb' is flickering too. The only reference I can find to this issue is at this link in UserVoice:CC Libraries palette vibrates nonstop  Anyone else have this issue? Is there anything that works to fix it? I'm on ID 20.5 on a 2023 Mac Studio running Sequoia 15.6.1. Thanks!Maurice

I have a document that was first written as several sections with many pages per section.  I need to seperate them into chapters.  So I need to know how to unthread text frames so I break the link from one text frame but keep the sections together.  ie: Doc has 30 pages and is 3 seperate topics of ten pages each.  How do I keep pages 1-10 linked and break 10 to 11 then keep 11-20 linked and break 20-21 and keep 21-30 linked?  IN-Design CS5  And I have tried both scripts break frame and split story and they are not what I want.  Why does this not work?Unthread text framesWhen you unthread a text frame, you break the connection between the frame and all subsequent frames in the thread. I am having a problem with a file I received from another designer. Specifically, she used the Barlow font family from Adobe Fonts for some of the text treatments, however, even when I activate all the available font families she linked to on Adobe Fonts, some of the font variations are being found but two of the font variations are not being found. See below image. Given that these fonts should be the same ones from Adobe Fonts, how do I resolve the issue? Is it possible that this issue is related to the operating system (I am on a Windows PC)? 

Our 3 person graphics department is working on a updating a 15 section 350+ page catalog in InDesign CC2017. We've created a book file and are making changes to the different sections (opening them only through the book file) but are finding revisions that have been made were not saved when we re-open the sections later in the day or the following day. There are always multiple sections in the indb panel with yellow caution triangles saying the document was modified outside the book file which is odd since the sections are opened only through the indb file.The catalog is entirely product based and all the text has paragraph and character styles applied.

Hi, I have a project that uses a lot of repeat elements, which I saved in an InDesign CC library. I redesigned the project last year and added lots of new assets to the CC library. When I opened the library today, all the newer files are missing - it appears to have reverted to a version of the library from over a year ago, before I created the redesign files. Is there any way to retrieve and re-add those assets? They are not visible in the InDesign library panel, nor in the project's library folder when I log in on Adobe.com. Many thanks!

Since this post seems to be marked as resolved after the Adobe Community update and it isn’t resolved, I’m creating a new post and linking to the old one. All the relevant information can be found here (at least all of the information that survived the Adobe Community update -- there are several missing posts). Long story short -- when you install Windows Security updates, some system fonts -- Times New Roman for me -- throw a missing font error in InDesign. This error only goes away if you uninstall the Windows Security update. More detailed info can be found in the linked post.This issue has been going on for literally months, since last November, and we’ve got bupkis to show for it -- less than bupkis now that some of the original posts have been nerfed with the Adobe Community update and the original thread appears dead. Adobe. Please. Help. This is beyond frustrating now... 

For the past few months, I’ve been able to work around this issue, but it has now reached a point where I can’t. When exporting PNG files in Adobe InDesign, the drop shadows shift position during export. The shadows appear correctly within InDesign, but once the PNG is exported, the shadows are visibly displaced from their original placement. I have a half-page postcard with small images embedding. I’m trying to save it to my CC files so I can share with a collaborator, but it either never saves or takes 20-30 minutes to save. Is that normal?

Since updating to InDesign 21.5, exporting/saving a story as InCopy (ICML) can omit a table's column width dataEnvironment: InDesign 21.5, Windows.Is this a known/tracked bug, and is a fix scheduled? Is there a recommended workaround in the meantime?

Ever since I updated to Indesign 2026, anytime I place an illustrator file, there is a fairly high chance that one or more of the layers refuses to display or the file will be in a rolled back state. Its not just a visual glitch, when I export to PDF, the placed file will still not show what its supposed to. It seems to happen more frequently when the illustrator file is larger, but I’ve also had it happen on tiny files. The ONLY fix I’ve found so far is to save the illustrator file as a PDF and import that.
