Hi, not sure if I’m having an off day or not here. I asked a college and they were also puzzled. I’m placing high resolution images into Indesign.The document size without a doubt is 1920x1080 px.The Images are large stock images, bigger than this document size at 300ppi.When placed at 100% these images are smaller than the document? For example: One image is 3840x2160 px at 300ppi. When placed into a 1920x1080px document making it the full page size indesign says it is 208.3% scaled, and the effective ppi is 144?  This makes no sense, the effective ppi should exceed 300, and the scale should be less than 100%?!  See link panel and item selection image for details.Please help. 

I’m new to InDesign, but have made books in other products. I have chapters all made with the same template and parent settings. I put them in a book. I want the chapters to start on odd or even pages, depending on how the chapters lay out. The chapters that start on odd pages look great. But the ones that start on even pages have the inner and outer margins backwards. Is there a way to set up my parents so a chapter will have the margin (and page headers and the like) be correct for whether it winds up starting on the right or the left? (So that if I add a page, say, to an early chapter, the change ripples correctly through the rest of the chapters.) I’ve attached my first test case with four chapters. Note the third one, “Illness and Injuries” starts on the left, but the margins are set for a right side page. Thanks in advance.

Hi all,I'm working on migrating my InDesign plugin from the 2025 SDK to the newly released InDesign 2026 SDK. I’m using Xcode 16.2 on macOS and attempting to rebuild the plugin against the latest SDK.However, I'm encountering the following compilation error: "No member named 'data' in 'K2Vector<TabStop>'" This error is occurring in TabStop.h at these lines: const TabStop* begin() const{ return fSortedTable.data(); }/** */const TabStop* end() const{ return fSortedTable.data() + fSortedTable.size(); } Has the K2Vector interface changed in the 2026 SDK? Or is there some new header, typedef, or setting I'm missing?Any guidance on how to resolve this or properly access the internal buffer of a K2Vector in the new SDK would be greatly appreciated.Thanks in advance!Chetan

Is there a function to remind reviewers?It would be very helpful if the InDesign Adobe review function had a reminder feature that could be set to remind reviewers if they haven’t opened the link within a set period of time. My problem is that my people don’t always get to it right away and then forget. That delays the production process. If Review could have a reminder function like Adobe Sign (or if it is there and I do not know about it) that would be extremely helpful. I understand I could export it and then send it as an Adobe Sign document and then import comments back into the document but I’d prefer to keep it all in the InDesign Review eco-system. 

After updating to both Tahoe 26.1 and ID 2026, I can no longer package files located on my Synology NAS.  I'm getting the "indesign could not package the document cannot copy necessary linked files" error. I can package if all of the files are on my local drive. This is fine, except I have thousands of files on the NAS that my studio works from.  Anyone have a solution for this? I'm going nuts.  My phone call with Adobe support was "if you resaave all of the linked files with new names in new locations, they will re-link up" This is a nightmare for a studio, so its a non-starter.  Affinity works fine, and would be a PITA to move to, but I'd prefer for now to stick with ID. 

Simple enough, really. I had a bunch of layers that contained various elements for a spread.I’m not an InDesign “power user” so I’m kinda picking my way through this.I decided that the best way for me to stay organised was to put all of those elements into a single “spread” layer, so that I can have a different layer for each spread. I couldn’t move the layers into other layers, so I grouped each layer’s contents & then moved all of the groups into my “spread” layer.Unfortunately, InDesign, like Illustrator, treats guides quite differently to what I’m used to in Photoshop. (Nothing wrong with that, of course, I’m just not used to it.)Bottom line is that I went to delete all of my original layers, only to be told that they contain guides.I need all my guides.Can I move them to another layer? Can I even find out where they are? I can’t seem to see them as objects the way I can in illustrator.I suppose it’s not the end of the world if I leave all my original layers there, just so I ca

Hello,This issue is driving me nuts! I'm sure there's an easy fix, but I can't figure it out.On certain .indd files, I'm unable to edit any text box. This happens with more than enough files that I can't imagine these files are all corrupt, but not ALL files. When I single click on the text box, I see the normal blue frame with handles (2nd image below). When I double click to edit, the frame turns brown (1st image below) and I'm unable to edit anything. I've tried unlocking all objects (Object/Unlock all Objects), but it's grayed out. There are no other layers on top of these text boxes and they all share a Master Page (which does not include the text boxes I'm trying to edit). Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone!I’ve just updated my Indesign to 21.2 (WIN11) because I wanted to check out the new AI-Feature to generate Alternative Text directly in Indesign.I checked out my credits (500) before. But I can’t get my Indesign to recognize/ use these credits.I already checked out my CC and signed in again but the Problem ist still there: the ALT-Text-Option remains greyed out (see attached image)Anyone knows how to get around this?Your help is much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hello everyone.I have many tables with many rows that flow across several pages. The rows are defined with specific measurements in the "top cell inset" and "bottom cell inset."To make these tables justified/take up the entire page, I've been selecting all the table rows on the page and playing with the "top cell inset" and "bottom cell inset" spacing, trying and changing the spacing until I get it right.I need a script that does the following:Find the remaining space to fill the page and distribute that space evenly across all the selected rows.Does anyone know a script that does this?I'm uploading a table in InDesign with the .idml extension.Thank you very much. José Dias 

I’m looking to print a 32-page PDF, of which only 4 pages are in colour whereas the rest is black and white. So Ideally I would like to export a PDF with 28 pages using “20% dot gain” output and the remaining 4 with “fogra51” colour profile.Is it possible to export a PDF using multiple colour profiles? OR is it possible combine two exported PDF without breaking any ISO compliance ?  Thanks!

Is anyone else experiecing issues with saving their file? It's giving me a pop up window "InDesign is unable to perform the requested operation on the file." Does anyone have any solution to this? I’m working on a massive project and can’t afford to lose time.

InDesign 2025 on a PC is unusable. I have an existing InDesign document, nothing fancy, a simple report. When I try to remove three paragraphs of body text by highligting it and hitting the delete button (an extremely simple task I've done thousands of times) InDesign freezes and I have to End Task in the Task Manager. I let it sit for 20 minutes and it was just a spinning cursor. Adobe has joined the enshitification party in tech. Make a product that works.

When i use InDesign, all the letters in my text seem to go all wonky and irregular does anyone know why this might be and how i can fix it?

I want to list the URL redirects added to the document using Edit Hyperlinks. Can we do this?  

I have one text box with 3 inlined objects in it. From the start all 3 inlined objects have the same size (height). Then I merge some data in my inlined objects and the inlined objects do not have the same height anymore. They seems to align bottom, but I want them to align top. My inlined objects have this “Anchored objects options”: Is there a way to keep them as inlined objects, but where they align to top instead of bottom?It’s not an option for me to use the align tool, because it’s inlined objects.

Recently I'm having this problem, also with illustrator. Indesign wont open any document, there is no error message or anything but the spinning wheel. Sometimes forcing the app to close and open it again works but not always. I'd already deleted the preferences but didn't make any difference. This problem is been for least one week, suddenly works fine but there are days than can't work forI'm running Mac Os High Sierra 10.13.5 Indesign and illustrator latest version

Chaque titre du sommaire vient des entêtes de pages réalisées sur mon gabarit.Les données sont traitées directement avec easycatalog. En réalisant la table des matières, j'ai des répétitions car il reprend les entêtes de chaque page. Comment dois-je m'y prendre pour qu'il ne garde que la première de chaque section de chapitre ?Merci d'avance pour votre aide. 

I’ve recently upgraded from CS5.5 to CC 2025. I’ve noticed an unusual behaviour when I have multiple objects selected. If I click on one of the objects in the group, a thick blue line appears around it.  I’m not sure of the purpose of this, or how it is used? 

Hello everyone,I’ve recently started using InDesign CC 2025 (Debug build) for plugin development. While debugging, InDesign frequently stops execution in Xcode with errors like:Thread 1: EXC_BREAKPOINT (code=EXC_I386_BPT, subcode=0x0) If I click Continue, the application usually resumes and works as expected, so it appears these are handled internally and not fatal crashes.I also see similar behavior where execution stops on assert-related lines inside the InDesign SDK code.My questions are: Is there any recommended setting in Xcode to prevent breaking on these handled breakpoints while debugging InDesign? Is there a way to ignore or disable SDK/internal assert breaks, similar to ignoring Objective-C exceptions? Environment: Xcode: 15.2 macOS: 13.x InDesign SDK: CC 2025 InDesign: Debug version Any guidance on best practices for debugging plugins with the Debug build of InDesign—especially regarding breakpoints and asserts—would be greatly appreciated.Thank you.

Leading between paragraph styles is not consistent. The larger (incorrect) space only happened around 5 times in 100+ page doc. No rogue formatting on styles. Seems to fix itself when i create a orphan. 

Hello everyone, I've upgrade to Indesign CC 2018 (13.1.0.76) from CC 2017 and now everytime I want to save a document (new or existing)  the same error message appears."Cannot save the document. It may be opened by other aplications. Close applications and try again. You may also use Save As to save it into a new document."   The Save As option works fine, but for my worklow this is unacceptable. When I work localy, the problem doesn't present itself only when I want to work from a company server. I have permission to read and write on the server. I have no idea what the problem is.   Before updating everything worked fine in the 2017 version.   I know there already exist a topic about the same issue, but it was never solved and its already a few years old. So i thought I open up a new one.   Does anyone have a solution??<Title renamed by MOD>

There are 2 ways to generate a vcard/QR code in Indesign, 1. Method 1 Type: Business Card 2. Method 2 Type: Plain Text with code: BEGIN:VCARDVERSION:3.0FN:First LastN:Last;First;END:VCARD   Here's what I have observed: Androids can read Method 1 QR code without issue Most Androids cannot read Method 2 QR code If text code from Indesign's Method 2 is used in other QR code utility, then Androids can read QR code. It seems as though something is happening in the QR code generation process. You can use Method 2 in a data merge workflow, and is the reason that I would like to continue using this method. I have tried various versions of Indesign. I have tried versions 2.1, 3.0, 4.0 of vcard.   Is there anything else to try in using Method 2 and have QR code read by Android?

Hello,the problem isI need to print a book page, where the height of the text must be 17,5 cm and the width 11,5 cm. The space between the text on two pages (when a book is open) must be 3 cm. The margins up, down and on the sides must be 2cm. When I set the text/width in the setups, everything seems ok. But then I convert file into PDF and print it. On the paper the parameters are changed, like now it is 10,5x16 cm, and the space between the text frames on two pages is 4 cm. What is wrong and how can I fix it?
