A little Photoshop history—and a feature request for Adobe Long before Lightroom, before Camera Raw became what it is today, and certainly before AI could remove distractions with a click, there was scanner dust. It was the mid-1990s. I was working as a commercial photographer, shooting catalogs, advertising assignments and still working with both film and some of the earliest digital cameras. My film cameras included 4×5, as well as 2¼-inch formats. When a commercial transparency was finished, the next step was often scanning it to produce a high-resolution TIFF. And that's where the fun began. Or, more accurately, where the dust began. Even after carefully cleaning a transparency, there always seemed to be tiny pieces of dust or debris that found their way into the scan. On the resulting image they appeared as little black spots—sometimes hundreds of them. The solution? Zoom in, grab the Retouching tools and remove them one at a time. For hours. There had to be a better way. Digging

I have an Apple 27 inch Intel iMac running Mac OS 13.7.8 which is the latest version that will run on it. I was using photoshop version 27.8 and for the most part it worked fine. There were a few new features that required a newer operating system but for they were things I needed. Yesterday, it upgraded to version 27.9 and now when I launch it I receive a message that I need to upgrade the operating system to use it. I would have expected that the update would only have installed if it would run on my machine, which is what happened with Lightroom I tried to uninstall photoshop and reinstall both 27.8 and 27.7 and now I still get the message that I need to upgrade my operating system to use it. upgrading my OS isn’t an option until I can buy new hardware and that isn’t going to happen until Apple announces a new mini. is there anyway to get photoshop working again?thatks for your help,Jim 

If I add a layer mask to an art (pixel) layer and mask out part of the layer then select the layer icon (not the mask) and apply Gaussian blur both the pixels on the layer and the mask are blurred. Is this a new bug or am I missing something? Ps version 27.9.1. Thanks.

This was working perfectly a few days ago. Now, when I select my whole image and say something like “remove writing” or “delete thin writing” or “erase writing,” I can sit there waiting and waiting, and suddenly it stops working and nothing gets done. Or, I can select a part of the image and click the “Delete” button and I wait, but then it stops and nothing gets done. This is wasting my credits (money) and time, and is very frustrating. I am on a Mac, and Photoshop is updated all the way. I do not want to use the Remove tool to solve the Generative Fill button problem, because it doesn’t work as well, and also has selectively stopped working. When I use the Generative Fill button, I had been using the Firefly Image 5 choice, because the other two were doing insane things like replacing my entire image with women’s faces, etc. I tried some of the more expensive Partner choices, but they were tending to overdo their edits, like adding things I didn’t ask for, or changing the entire colo

I’m always looking for ways to make my Photoshop workflow faster. What shortcut do you use the most?

Hey there!   I'm trying to open Photoshop after updating to Windows 11, and it will open until Finding System Profiles, then it will just quit, we have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, nothing.   Not sure what I can do to help this get past this screen!  

I have had this issue for the past two major PS updates. I am unable to import or place video files in PS anymore. I am currently on PS version 21.0.1 now with the issue still not resolved for me.   Before this last update, I even had an Adobe tech support agent remote in and he could not solve the issue and told me that, "they were able to reproduce the issue, and that we are working on the fix and the issue would be resolved in the next update".   I have "literally" pretty much gone down every road imaginable. All except wiping my Mac and starting from scratch. I have installed and reinstalled PS several times. I have deleted preferences from everywhere that they can hide. I have tried creating a new profile, changed security settings.   I am supremely confident that it's not a video file format issue. Havent seen this specific message on the forum, although elsewhere resetting preferences is suggested, and it works, except it keeps happening, resetting preferences is an extreme move so something is wrong.  Everything is updated, I print similiar pictures ALL THE TIME.

Hello,Recently I have noticed that when I select a menu, or a drop down menu, there is a brief freeze and lag.This lag vanishes with Windows Ink is disabled, BUT, then I lose all pressure sensitivity.The lag isnt there when I roll over menus, but is when they are clicked.I am on Windows 11, using a Wacom Intuos Pro LRG (and older model: PTH-851) 

I've just updated to Photoshop and now I can't drag anything with the move tool inside the canvas, nothing is locked, Auto-select is active. I also can't drag layers in the layer panels to re-order them. It was working fine, and suddenly move tool stopped working, the same with the layers panel, If i try to drag any layer, cursor changes to the hand icon and inmediately changes back to the arrow cursor with no result at all.

Does anyone know why all of a sudden (it came out of nowhere, but I've been dealing with it all month) I am getting a Couldn't find background to remove when I try to use the Remove Background tool?  

Hello,The title said it all.Steps to reproduce:1. make a document with Grayscale color mode (or convert it via Image>Mode>Grayscale)2. Add a Levels adjustment layer.​​​​​​​3. record an action of you changing the sliders on the Levels adjustment layer.4. change those values first, then try playing the action.5. Result: it does nothing! (but such an action works on an RGB Document for example).Besides that, RGB documents, for instance, allow the creation of a Levels adjustment layer with given values in a single executeaction step. that doesn’t work on Grayscale documents.  

I used Control + V to paste the goose onto the backyard scene that you see here.  The goose is gigantic.  I need to scale it down.backyardgooseComposite  

Photoshop doesn’t save imported brushes, patterns, text styles, or gradient maps. They disappear after I reopen Photoshop, so I have to import them again. PS 27.4.0, Mac M1 Pro.

The only drawing program that this happens on is photoshop, even programs not really made for drawing have a more smooth/responsive brush.When i opened up paint and just scribbled some lines in it i realized how smoother it is compared to photoshop, then i opened Clip Studio Paint and it was the same, it was way smoother than Photoshop, i can’t just ignore it at this point its too annoying and i don’t  know if this problem only affects me or its a photoshop issueThings I Tried that did not fix it: Disable GSYNC Change Scratch disks Smoothing is not even on Rolling back to older versions(Present in CS6 I tried photoshop ME7 and it did not have this issue, but its too old) Small brush, big brush, small canvas, big canvas, none of it makes a difference The MS Paint cursor is not visible because of compression but the brush stroke was following it seamlessly  

Issue summary: When I use generative fill set to firefly 5 engine, I make a selection, but the generation appears at the very edge of the selection, as though the selection is cutting off the generation. Product and version: Photoshop 27.8.0 Operating system: Mac Steps to reproduce:  Make a selection around an object or area of image right click>generative fill engine is set to firefly 5 enter “fire” into dialogue box tiny flame appears at the very edge of selection, almost appears to avoid anything I’ve selected around Expected result: a flame or fire within the boundaries of the selection, blending with the rest of the image Actual result: Before generation, selected areaafter generation; background hasn’t changed, flame appearing at edge of selection and not blended with the rest of the image 

Photoshop desktop will not open files that are stored on my computer, Mac Tahoe 26.5.2. Photoshop opens but when I try to open a file it gives the spinning ball icon only. Photoshop has Full Disk Access. I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled the app. Restarted the computer.

SECOND TIME, BUT ON A DIFFERENT COMPUTER.Today I attempted an update to PS 2026 which was probably at 27.7.  While updating it froze at 51%  with the message that it was taking an unusually long time and....  After waiting over an hour I canceled the update, closed all apps and restarted my computer.  Then tried to open PS and got this message.Also here is detail from Finder: This is on my Macbook Pro apple silicon with Tahoe 26.6.Less than a month ago the exact same thing happened on my Apple Studio and current OS.  Then, with costly outside support, I had to use CC cleaner and reload, etc with all the hassle that entails.  ADOBE:  PLEASE FIX THIS.  Otherwise how many times do I have to reload etc?QUESTION.  Do I have to use Creative Cloud Cleaner or is there a more efficient way like simply uninstalling PS and then reinstalling it.  

It only crashes when connected to internet (startup with wifi off is fine). Tried reboot. Tried shutting off firewall and virus sw. If I turn on internet after a successful start, if crashes within 4 seconds (I think it’s when it tries to turn on sync). How do I fix this? Lightroom seems to work fine. Auto updates is on and Photoshop CC appears to be up to date. 

As an IT-Supporter it is a nightmare to simply just deploy the Adobe Suite without the ability for the user to upgrade everything and create a version-mismatch on several adobe products. Now that we have finally decided to delve into Photoshop 2026 it has come to multiple users and my attention that the remove tool as well as some, if not all other “AI-Features” are completely unusable and won’t install no matter what.Apparently it does not make a difference if Creative Cloud can recognize Adobe 2026 being installed or not but it also seems that some Creative Cloud Licensed users can not see Photoshop installed on Creative Cloud, yet Photoshop works fine with License and everything but the “AI-Features” seems to work fine.Upon reading that this is an ongoing issue for several months now I am considering going back to 2025 for Photoshop just to be absolutely certain that this new and improved version does not ruin any more features outside of the AI-Required features.

 im in a huge panic and really need help. I hopped on photoshop today to find every single one of my creative cloud files GONE, including a uni assessment due very soon. Im freaking out. i have looked through the deleted files section of the creative cloud app, nothing, i have looked for multiple creative cloud file folders, still nothing. Its like the files never even existed. I did a disk cleanup a few days ago for an unrelated issue, but to try and remedy any loss that couldve occured, i ran a complete hard drive search using disk drill, which still came up with nothing. Its as if these files never even existed? and if the issue was on my end and i deleted the files somehow accidentally, firstly how are they not on the cloud when it is listed as cloud storage, and secondly, they shouldve appeared in my disk drill intensive search. i am on the brink of a meltdown because of this, please please help i am at a loss of what to do. Im running windows 10, and using cc

Smoetimes when i m trying to remove image background the error occurs
