I’m running different version of AE on Windows on a macbook pro M1 using Parallels Desktop to test our plugins/scripts Before AE 26, After Effects was running in emulation mode.With AE 26.x, it’s running natively on ARM.Is there a way to enable the emulation so I can test x64 version of our plugin?CheersVal

Hey Adobe Community,I have some abstract compositions that I need to render in 4K. Most of them consist of some simple 3D shape layers (3 points, connected to 3D Nulls). These are pre-comped, and these pre-comps have colour and blur effects applied to them (Camera Lens Blur, Gaussian Blur, Colorama, CC Toner, these kinds of effects). They’re about a minute long.When trying to render these out (using mostly the H.264 - Match Render Settings - 15Mbps preset) the Memory seems to blow out of proportion, completely clogging up my machine. This also happens with the effects disabled.I’ve tried using my Mac’s internal SSD, and an external SSD as cache. The Maximum Disk Cache Size is set at 150GB. With the 64GB installed, 12GB is set as reserved for other applications. I’ve purged the caches, and restarted the Mac multiple times, but to no avail – it clogs up like this every single time, and I’m stuck not being able to render them. Is there anything I’m doing wrong here? I keep getting this error when trying to save my after effects project.  I type command + F, choose my location on my HD, and save it as an .aep (the default setting) and this is the error i get - "After Effects Error: File couldn't be opened for writing: "(name of project).aep". (3 ;; 0)

I queue up a project with image 1 in the encoder render, then I go back to the project and change it to image 2 while the first video is still rendering. The encoder changes image 1 to image 2 halfway through the first video. The problem is that for the last two years I have been working the same way and nothing changed in the real-time render if I changed something in the project, but now it changes. This has never happened before. I asked couple of buddies and they said that it worked always like that :/

Does anyone know a Mac program that will convert older .mov files and preserve the alpha? I cannot import them into AE since they are no longer supported. I've downloaded a few free trials, and when I convert to ProRes 4444, I lose the alpha and gain a black background. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks,Denise

Hello! How can I create an expression for checkbox Control to "Fill" effect in a PNG logo? I would like that when the checkbox is marked, the logo takes on the solid color filling, and when disabled keep the original colors of the logo. Can anyone help me with this issue? Thanks!

Is there a way to repair this? Because every time I try to preview my footage the video shown is completely black. Is there an option to tick or something? This problem started after doing some 3D edits.

I’m trying to automate a trapezoid shape, that can be resized along the x or y axis (preferably with slider controls), but maintains four set angles. For instance, 90°, 90°, 100°, 80°. See attached image as an example: 

Since upgrading from windows 10 to 11 I have had this issue where After effects crash on startup once Bridge is installed.The only way to get it to working normal is to rename/delete Microsoft.AI.MachineLearning.dll from the plug-ins folder. Both programme will open and operate as expected but I lose all AI features in Bridge including masking which is a big part of my workflow.Has anyone solved this issue without deleting important .dll files?

I am trying to download After Effects 2026 onto my new laptop. It’s a high-end HP Omen and is equipped with all of the requirements. I have been looking at my creative cloud to see if its available to me to install but it hasn’t been there. I need to get it installed so I can see if a bug I have had problems with is gone. I have an adobe account through my school, so I don’t know if that has something to do with it or not. 

Hi all,I’m asking for some help about a project, for which I have a scene sitting on a couch, and on the coffee table in front of me, I’d like to place small demogorgons (from the Stranger Things show).I haven’t tried the environment light, the use of HDRI for lighting/shadows, and the direct import of 3D models, since all this became possible in AE. I’ve done this in Blender a few times and by no means am I an expert. So I got a free model of the creatures with different animation type hardcoded and I chose the ones I like. I found an HDRI that mimics the warm, orange colors I need for lighting and used it via the environment light. I also used a 3d solid , aligned with the table’s perspective and used it as a shadow catcher.The result for the shadows wasn’t good, though. No matter how I change the environment light’s rotations, I can’t get proper shadows from the proper angle. Even worse, they appear somewhat distorted with missing pixels and some jitteriness. I'd like to create a line that gets fatter as it lengthens from left to right, but I want the previous thicknesses to remain unchanged, so at full length it will look kind of like a stretched out triangle (one pixel on the left, 25 pixels on the right). I've tried combining the stroke width property with the trim path property, but that fattens the entire line as it grows (see attachment), not the effect that I want.I realize I could draw the final shape and reveal it with an animated mask, but I was hoping to do it just with properties for simplicity. Is there a way?

Don’t get me wrong. If this image showed up in an artist’s portfolio, I’d be more than happy to appreciate it.But for someone like me who opens After Effects multiple times a day, this splash screen feels like a jump scare. It actually gives me nightmares.I know I can modify the splash screen by following tutorials online, but doing so triggers Adobe to think I’m using a pirated copy and throws a five-day grace period warning at me. That doesn’t exactly feel like a long term solution.Other than that, I haven’t run into many issues with the 2026 version. It includes features I’ve been waiting for a long time, and I really don’t want to hold off on upgrading just to wait for the next release.

I can access alt character styles in PSD but why not in AE?? I have a font called Helvetica Now which offers a curved lower case L and in PSD can access but not in AE. I have to create text in PSD and copy/paste over to AE.
