Hello everyone,I'm seeing a critical issue with my (new) PC: Adobe apps like InDesign are freezing because they are only detecting 4GB of VRAM on my RTX 5090.However, all my system diagnostics (NVIDIA Control Panel, DxDiag) correctly show the full 32GB of VRAM.I've already done a full driver wipe with DDU and a clean reinstall of the latest Studio Driver. This looks like a major bug between Adobe apps and the new NVIDIA 50-series GPUs. Has anyone else experienced this, or found a workaround? My Rig:PC: Alienware Area-51 AAT2250GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 (32GB GDDR7)CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 285KRAM: 64GB DDR5OS: Windows 11 Home
So I have sets of illustration in separated artboard (same layer) in Illustrator. But when I am importing it to InDesign, some parts of the illustration is missing. It occurs on some illustration, especially reused graphic asset from Freepik. Funny enough, this isn't happening using the previous version of Indesign. Right now I am using the current latest 21.0 (not beta). What I have done for the workaround;saved into a new file, only the error artboard. not working.saved the error artboard into EPS, works. But I wish everything works in native format.
Hello! Opening illustrator files from InDesign, working on them, saving them and going back to InDesign. The links are all updated, but sometimes it’s leaving anomolies, like double shadows of the figure in. Friends are having the same problem, one had the cursor x/y measurements from the illustrator file appear in InDesign - which wouldn’t even have saved into the file? Anyone else had this problem?Pictures - show the x/y (illustrator on the left - inDesign on the right) and the double calendar which is most definitely not there in the illustrator file!
Recently i was working on project. Saved with no errors. Now I cannot open that file, however I can open other files with no problem. Why my file is not OK anymore?
When having a file open in InDesign 2024 on my Macbook Pro (Sonoma 14.2.1 OS), close the lid, plug into my LG UltraFine external monitor and wake the computer up, the InDesign window is still open and all the tool bars are visible and working, but the area where the artwork is becomes black/blank and I can't see the work. I can see the bounding boxes if I select all, but no image or text. The window is entirely blank. The same thing happens if I'm working on my LG monitor, unplug the display and then open the Macbook to work. I always have my Macbook closed when plugged into the LG display and use both an external keyboard and trackpad. The solution is to always save, quit InDesign and reopen. If I go through that it works again. Is it a bug with Apple? Is it a bug with Adobe? My LG firmware, OS and Adobe InDesign are all updated to the latest versions.
We have all quietly noticed that the colour picker in Indesgn used to pick up whatever color you hovered over within the document. We feel it stopped working like that a few updates ago - it now picks up whatever is in the top layer, and that is not interesting to us, as its often part of a text box above the image we are trying to pick the colour from. This issue leaves us going back and forth between photoshop and Indesign just to single out colours, which works against us in our workflow.
I have created a book with full bleed art on the left-hand page and no art on the right-hand page. If I create a pdf with crop marks and bleed, no problems. The pdf shows that the art is placed correctly and it trims were it is supposed to.But if I create a pdf without crop marks or bleed, a sliver of the art from the left-hand page shows up on the right-hand page. The picture box is created at the right size and is placed correctly in InDesign, so I know that’s not the issue. It also happens if I create a pdf with crop marks but without bleed. I create PDF files without crops or bleeds to submit to clients for approval all the time, and this problem has only occurred on this particular book. You can see the issue in the attached screen grabs. What is happening?
D’habit
Hello, why can't I upload files to Indd when it worked fine for years. Most graphic designers and studios work with NAS devices. I can't save anything, I have to make copies and restore files. Can something be done about it? Thank you very much rh <Title renamed by MOD>
After the most recent update I had to create a document using assets from older indesign files that previously never gave any issues. Now the dropshadows from multiple (different objects) move all over the place (away from the object as if theres a fixed lightsource) when I move these objects. When I turn off the dropshadow of the object, move the object and then turn the shadow back on it will have the shadow in it's correct position. When I move the object around multiple times it will start glitching the entire page until I move my cursor over it again. When I change the path of the object the displaced shadow will snap back into it's correct position, making me think this is a graphical display issue. In the example below you can see how the dropshadows moved. (left one moved up when moving the object down and to the left. Right one stayed closer to it's original position but offset, middle is the original position before copying and moving). i'm working on a
Hi,I'm hoping someone can help with an issue I'm having when converting PDFs to Word using Adobe Acrobat.I generate PDF’s, then I drop them into Word. The problem is that the resulting Word document sometimes contains random duplicated words or sections of sentences that were not duplicated in the original InDesign document or PDF.I then have to go through the entire document manually and remove the duplicated text, which is extremely time-consuming and ultimately unnecessary. Is there a issue that can be fixed?
“Whenever I use the alt key with scroll to zoom, the top menu becomes underlined. That's a built in windows fetaure from the days before mice. The difficulty is, if I then press V for Selection, it instead opens the View menu. I have to be careful to hit escape after zooming this way, which is inconvenient.” I have seen a few posts about this, this one from two years ago: This one from 2021:https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=87332 This is something I imagine many many users run into, I did not even understand why this problem was happening (only happening after I used alt+scroll to zoom) until today, but this issue has come up and been very frustrating for many months. Seems like something that is very worth fixing.
So not sure if its just me - or I going slowing mad with this, but following the latest update 25.5.1 when I open pre update files and resize a text box all the text shifts down. This happens in both EN and FR docs that I’m using. I’m trying to edit a catalogue with multiple SKUs and text boxes in both languages where everything was lined up and now following text edits its not. Have the adobe gremlins been at work again?
At some point of the work, InDesign randomly stucks at a “checking” state. It doesn’t effect the work, the app works fine, only the cursor is “loading” which is really annoying. ALSO when I finally lose my patiente, and try to close the app, it won’t close. I have to use task manager, to close it.
I am using InDesign 21.3, working on a simple 2 page file, I go to place a logo and the blue thinking wheel pops up and doesn’t go away. I can click and move things around but none of it is being “saved”. I close the file and click to close the program and it just sits there still open. I then have to force quit the program. When I relaunch the file opens with the software and everything I did while the wheel was spinning was not saved. It’s done this several times since the update and there is no pattern to why. I’m finding it randomly acting up. It’s really frustrating, especially when I’m not working on anything complicated.
I’ve done this before, but now I can’t get it to work (Windows 11 Pro; InDesign: 21.5.1). The font is Aviano Flare. I want to always substitute a specific “A” glyph. None of the Open Type Stylistic Sets work. How do I set up a new one? Also, do I need a style for both upper- and lowercase “As”? What am I forgetting or doing wrong? Many thanks for your help!
I've followed all the suggestions made by the virtual assistant and other AI, but my InDesign still freezes whenever I place an image. Any image, large or small, png or jpeg. I have reset all preferences and checked RAM and CPU - all good.
I was wondering if we are the only ones in the world experiencing this.6 workstations, each with different settings/customizations, yet all 6 have the same problem.InDesign starts showing the loading circle, as if it is doing something, and we are unable to select any object. Some parts of the application are still somewhat usable. We find ourselves restarting the app 10 times or more per day, and, of course, restarting the application is not as simple as pressing the "X" button in the top-right corner because it doesn't do anything. We need to open the Task Manager and force-close InDesign every time. We restart, and here we are: after a whopping 10 minutes of work, we need to restart the s***t application again. We've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, deleting all preferences and scripts, and installing it under another user account.
Since version 21.4.1 it doesn’t take long and an InDesign session won’t work without problems anymore. I drag an image in a window or change text in a textfield and the cursor turns into the “busy” symbol (revolving circle). It doesn’t turn back into a normal cursor anymore and all functions seem to be restricted. The program seems to be busy with something.I also cannot close the app the normal way. There is a warning window opening up when trying to do it via menu. But this window closes itself after a second and I cannot read what it says. The only way to shut down the app is by opening up the task-manager and close it with “end task”.I am working on a windows 11 x64 system.
I’ve been having major issues with InDesign locking up ever since this update. It doesn’t crash so it doesn’t send a report either. At least two times every day, I need to either force quit the app or restart. It is very frustrating!
This new udpate gives me a contstant spinning wheel almost after each action I try to make. Select an item, move an item, open a panel, open a menu, anything really—each interactions causes the wheel to appear for 1-2sec. My productivity has been completely obliterated. Anyone else having this issue? MacBook Pro 2023 M2 Max 32 GB Sequoia 15.0.1 <Title renamed by MOD>
This is happening all the time i’m running the most up to date version and most up to date version of windows. I acces files on drop box could this be causing the issue?
InDesign is doing this semi freeze thing when I place or replace images. Random images and random formats. The background task hoop turns on and I can do somethings sometimes but not always. If I close everything then close the program there is a message but it's up for a half a second, disappears and then a new start window opens then refuses to do anything else. I have to "End Task" to get it to close. I've deleted tempfiles, uninstalled and reinstalled, turned off GPU, and did that Ctrl + Alt + Shift thing.
