Since InDesign version 21.0, the following problem occurs with linked WMF files:Text that is “bold” in the WMF file is displayed and printed as “regular” in InDesign.This error did not occur in InDesign versions up to 20.5.1. This behavior can be easily reproduced on both Windows 11 and Windows 10. You can use different fonts for the test, e.g., Minion Pro, Myriad Pro, Times New Roman, Arial, etc. Test instructions:1. Use Illustrator to create a file that contains text in regular, italic, bold, and bold italic.2. Export this file as a WMF file.3. Place the WMF file in InDesign 20.5.1 and InDesign 21.x. Result:In InDesign 20.5.1, all font styles appear correctly (see attachment: TEST InDesign 20.5.1 + Illustrator 30.1.pdf).In InDesign 21.x, bold styles appear incorrectly as regular (see attachment: TEST InDesign 21.1 + Illustrator 30.1.pdf). Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Bonjour,Je vais travailler pour une boîte qui me demande d'utiliser la version 19.5.5 d'InDesign et qui m'a envoyé le dossier d'installation correspondant, en précisant bien que je dois utiliser cette version et aucune autre (j'avais la plus récente).J'ai donc désinstallé la nouvelle version d'ID, mais suis dans l'impossibilité d'exploiter l'ancienne version.- Le problème semble venir du fichier d'installation, lequel est en .msi, au lieu d'être en setup.exe. Je ne peux pas ouvrir ce fichier. J'ai l'impression de l'ouvrir, mais il ne se passe rien d'effectif.- Creative cloud ne me permet pas de remonter jusqu'à la version souhaitée.- Toutes les solutions proposées par chat GPT (cmd, windows power shell) ne donnent rien.Je ne sais plus quoi faire...Si quelqu'un a déjà rencontré le même problème et peut m'aider, merci d'avance ^^

I installed Adobe Create Cloud this week. In navigating to Adobe Fonts I came across Fairplay Display family so I installed it. However, I'm getting both display and printing variances with regular and italic in InDesign where it almost appears there's a bold override. But when I view the font on adobe fonts web browser library and ms word, it looks like the perfect weight. I've tried uninstalling the font, checking for software updates, but can't seem to get InDesign to render the font properly. Any ideas?

My laptop uses a Snapdragon X Plus (X1P-42100) processor, so I had to install the beta versions of Adobe applications. I recently installed InDesign (beta) 20.6, but it neither opens nor displays an error message.Is there any way to solve this issue? Note: I also installed Illustrator (beta), which works.

When a file is open in InDesign and computer goes to sleep, upon waking from sleep, file does not apppear but the tab for file is there and I can highlight text and graphic boxes but file does not appear. I must close file tab and reopen file for it to appear.InDesign 2026 running on MAC Pro with 192G Ram, Apple M2 Ultra chip, Sequoia 15.7.3

I need an official installer for InDesign 2024 because of a plugin compatibility.

The "Copy Link(s) To" function in the Links window was broken in one of the recent updates. Now when you copy links, it *breaks* the existing links in your document, and redirects the paths to the location that you copied to. This pretty much makes the feature unusable. Was this an intentional change? Any workarounds or fixes for this? 

I'm not the best scripter but finding bits and cobbling them together seems to be working for me so far.I was using InDesign 2023 (moved to 2024/2025), but as newer files started coming in I had to install 2025 as well.   Opening a newer file in 2023 triggers the online conversion, but it regularly gets stuck at 33%, so I ended up having to open the file directly in 2025 (and soon, probably 2026). It worked, but it was a bit cumbersome.   So I cobbled together a small script that I now run from InDesign 2023. It asks for the file location, launches 2025, saves an IDML in the same folder, and that’s it — no fuss.   I did try to: automatically close 2025 afterwards (gave up on that), and open the resulting IDML automatically (I’ve associated IDMLs with 2023 at OS level), but I couldn’t get that working either.   Still, with a bit of BridgeTalk experimentation and some trial-and-error, this is where I landed, and I’m about 99% happy with it.   First things f

HiI am have some real issues when trying to save documents.  Error messages like "unable to save this file, but it appears to be damaged" to "error code 2". I'd tried:Saving to IDML files - with some success but not an ideal solutionCopying/Pasting content onto a new document (no success)Uninstalling Indesign and re-installing a previous version (no success) This is happening across multiple files so I am reluctant to think it is just one file gone corrupt.  Any any advice? Considering uninstalling the whole CC suite and starting again. Thanks

Ich versuche mit einer Excel-Tabelle einen Katalog mittels Datenzusammenführung zu erstellen.Beim Importieren der Tabelle (egal ob als .txt oder .xls) erkennt Indesign nicht, dass eine Spalte der Tabelle Pfade zu Bildern enthält. Es steht immer das (Text-)T vor der erkannten Spalte im Feld Datenzusammenführung. Auch das Umbenennen der Spalte in `@Fotos hat nicht geholfen.Was mache ich falsch? Die Bilder liegen alle im selben Ordner ab wie die Excel-Tabelle und auch die Pfade sind richtig eingetragen.

This is an odd one, I double click on an indesign file, indesign and the file opens up but indesign goes to the background on my Mac, and the finder to the foreground then the Mac doc appears and stays there, I have to then click on the indesign layout to bring it to the front, the doc still stays until I click on something else on the doc then it disappears. This started when an agency sent me a brochure to work on and now it is happening with every file I open. I have searched and not found anyone with the same problem. So far I have deleted the Indesign preferences and that didn't fix it, then updated to the latest indesign and that didn't work either. Both illustrator and photoshop are working great. I would be grateful for any advice. Thank you. My set up is: Mac Studio 2023, 64GB ram, Sequoia 15.7.1, Indesign 2026.

Hi everyone,I am facing a critical issue with a corrupted InDesign file that I cannot open.File details:Size: 1,712 KB (So data seems to be present).Issue: The file crashes InDesign immediately upon opening or hangs indefinitely.Troubleshooting steps I have already tried (without success):Resetting InDesign Preferences (Ctrl+Alt+Shift / Cmd+Opt+Ctrl+Shift).Trying to place the file into a new document.Running a "Blind Open" script to export to IDML (script fails or crashes).Changing the extension to .indt.Renaming the Links folder to force missing links.Since the file is not 0kb, I am hoping the internal database can still be salvaged.Could someone with Markzware tools or advanced recovery skills please take a look? I experienced this alert and crash of Indesign during the last days and I can't work with thos files again.I tried to open them in another computer with another Indesign version - but faced the same result: "unhide spread" followed Indesign crash

I am reporting a regression in InDesign 2025–2026.When pasting even very simple vector artwork from Adobe Illustrator, InDesign displays the warning:“This command would create a large number of page items and would severely degrade performance. Data will be placed as embedded EPS.”After confirming the warning, the pasted object becomes non-editable:- Ungroup is unavailable- Fill and stroke cannot be edited- The object cannot be used as an image frameThis workflow worked correctly in earlier InDesign versions and appears to be a regression.I have filed a detailed bug report with reproduction steps and screenshots on InDesign UserVoice:👉 [PASTE YOUR USERVOICE LINK HERE]If this behavior is intentional, please advise on a supported workflow to convert Illustrator vectors into native editable InDesign paths.

Hi. I am experiencing disappearing text blocks. I import text into my InDesign document via the Place command. When I try to edit the document, and insert the cursor, either all or a portion of the entire text block disappears. I Control Z to recover and make my correction, save, and move on. When I spot another correction I repeat the process and the text block again disappears, not every time, but sporadically. The worst part is that the correction I had made previously also disappears, even though I have been Saving after every single correction/addition. This began in late Deccember. I have uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign. I have swapped out mouses. Same issue.
