Welcome to the first edition of our Illustrator Creative Challenges - a monthly prompt designed to give you a focused reason to open Illustrator, try a feature you've been meaning to explore, and share something you're proud of with the community.We're kicking things off with one of the most-loved exercises in vector design: logo design. The Brief - One bakery, one logo, your storyImagine you're designing the identity for a brand-new bakery opening on your street. It could be anything — a centuries-old French patisserie, a tiny sourdough micro-bakery run out of a garage, a sleek modern doughnut bar, a cottage bakery your grandmother might have run. The name is yours. The personality is yours. The mood is yours.Your job is to design a single vector logo that captures that personality. What to include - A few light constraints to keep things sharpA wordmark or logotype with the bakery's name An icon or graphic element that reflects its personality (wheat, rolling pin, croissant, oven, hands, or something unexpected) A two or three-colour palette that fits the brand One simple lockup variation, horizontal or stacked - to show how it scalesDon't worry about packaging mockups or business cards. The focus is the mark itself. Features to try - A great chance to stretch into something newThis challenge pairs well with a few Illustrator features worth experimenting with:Text to Vector Graphic for quickly generating icon concepts from a prompt Generative Shape Fill to fill in textures (think baked, kneaded, rustic) inside custom shapes Generative Recolor to test palette directions in seconds Type tools and Touch Type for shaping custom letterforms Pen and Pathfinder for clean icon constructionUse any combination - or none. In 2025, we updated Premiere’s timeline to make edit operations dynamic. Previously, editing showed a static blue box, and the timeline only updated after you released the mouse. With the dynamic update, everything refreshes in real time as you edit. Since that release, a small but passionate group of editors has let us know they strongly prefer the original, static behavior, especially when trimming. We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who shared their feedback, and especially to those who hopped on video calls with us to deep-dive into their workflows. We heard you loud and clear! In the latest Premiere beta, we’ve added a new preference to give you control over this behavior. You can now toggle this feature via Preferences > Trim > Update timeline dynamically during ripple edits. Here is a quick look at the setting in action.  Please try it out and let us know your thoughts in the replies below. Hello, The latest Beta Build 30.6.75 is now available in CCD. We have below fixes in this build: Global Typography/Unified Text Engine ChangesIn this beta, we bring a significant improvement to how Illustrator composes text. This should be a big friction removal for workflows that involve non-Latin text. While Illustrator was already composing text in non-Latin scripts, there were some frictional experiences and limitations. To make it easy for anyone to compose text in any language/script, we’ve largely worked on three aspects:Illustrator has two text composers – one works in Latin and East Asian scripts and the other which works for all scripts. Former is the default for most users, globally. In past, if your input comprised of Hindi or Urdu or Arabic Text, you may have noticed broken text shaping (joining of characters) as the application attempted shaping in the default composer. That’s changing. In this beta, when you input any text, either through physical keyboard, or soft keyboard, or paste - Illustrator will analyze the input and accordingly assign the appropriate text composer such that any text input is not broken, ever. Related to the above, we are also enabling access to these composers in the flyout menu of paragraph panel. This is to inform the users, which composer is associated to the selected text or the next new text, and further give users a way to change, if they need to do so. Typography features related to Japanese, and Right-to-Left scripts were not available for all users. In this beta, any Illustrator user will be able to access typography features related to Japanese, and Right-to-Left scripts. While these features will continue to be available by default in regions as earlier, any user will be able to enable these from Preferences > Type or from Type menu > Language Options.We are in the process of making some more improvements in the subsequent beta builds, like auto-assigning text direction as Right-To-Left upon detected input of scripts. But we’d love to hear your feedback on how global text is shaping for you in this build. Relink and replace images faster than ever.When you replace a linked image in Illustrator, you can now choose to apply that change everywhere the image appears in your file, even across multiple artboards and repeated layouts.How to use this:1. Select one or more links in the Links panel and click Relink2. In the file picker, note the 'Replace:' dropdown below the options3. Choose 'All Links (N)' to replace every instance of that file in the document4. Choose 'Selected Links (N)' to replace only the instances you selected5. Pick the replacement file and click Place Auto Place multiple files in a grid layoutIllustrator now supports auto placement of multiple files in a grid layout.Choose the files to be placed. With a single drag gesture, the grid size is auto calculated. Use arrow keys to increase/decrease the rows/columns, to create a custom grid layout.1. Go to File > Place and choose the files to be placed. 2. Click and drag on the canvas to define the grid area. 3. While dragging, hold Option (Mac) / Alt (Win) to place all files in one gesture with an auto-calculated grid. 4. Render, upload, share, comment, and manage feedback without ever leaving After Effects.What’s New?Unlike the Review with Frame.io panel, the new Frame.io V4 focuses on uploading from the Render Queue, rather than requiring users to set render settings from within the panel itself. Upload one or many comps to the same place in Frame.io at once!What’s Coming Later?If you’ve used our new Frame.io V4 panel in Premiere 26.2 or later, there are a few features in that panel, but are not yet available in After Effects (Beta).Playhead sync - Today, clicking a comment will jump the After Effects playhead to a comment. Hey all—Now that the official announcement is out, I wanted to share a few thoughts on Frame.io Drive and what it changes in practice.At a high level, Frame.io projects can now mount directly to your desktop, so media shows up in Finder (Mac) or Explorer (Windows) like a local drive.The interesting part is that you can start working with files immediately — without downloading them first.What that looks likeOnce Frame.io Drive is installed, you can open media directly in Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and other creative tools. Files stream as needed, while frequently used media gets cached locally over time.So instead of:download → organize → relink → start workingit starts to feel more like:mount → open → workThat may sound subtle, but if you regularly deal with large media, shared storage, or distributed teams, it changes a pretty familiar part of the workflow.Why I think this mattersWhat stood out to me pretty quickly is that you stop thinking about “moving media” as a separate step. Hey everyone, When encountering issues with generating images in the web version of Firefly, the product team needs additional information to understand what is causing this. The log files they need are sometimes called “HAR files”. If you are able, can you please follow these steps to create these HAR files:  Setting up Use Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Navigate to the generation page. With the browser window selected, and hovering over that window, right-click anywhere on the page and select "Inspect".​​​​Preparing to record the HAR fileWith the Developer options window open, navigate to the Network Tab and ensure recording is enabled.Note: The Developer options window may look slightly different in your web browser. Also the option for the Network tab could be hidden under the » more options button.Exporting the logs With everything set up, try generating your image again that fails with the error message. Copy-paste is one of those things you don't think about until it stops working. You hit Ctrl/Cmd+C, switch to your destination doc, hit Ctrl/Cmd+V, and… nothing. Paste stays greyed out, or the app freezes, or you get a cryptic error.It's one of the most common issues in the community, and the good news is it almost always traces back to one of a handful of causes. Here's how to track yours down. Start here: update Illustrator and your OSBefore going any deeper with troubleshooting, get both up to date. Several clipboard and copy/paste regressions have been fixed in recent Illustrator releases, and others have turned out to be triggered by specific OS builds (Microsoft Defender on certain Windows updates caused Illustrator to crash during copy across many machines, for instance). An update on either side often resolves the issue without further work.Open the Creative Cloud desktop app, go to Apps > Adobe Illustrator, and update. On macOS: Apple menu > System Settings > General > Software Update. On Windows: Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.Restart afterward and test before moving on.Reboot in Safe Mode — the single most useful diagnosticThis test tells you in about five minutes whether your problem is Illustrator itself or something else on your system interfering with it.Safe Mode here means the operating system's safe mode, not Illustrator's diagnostic mode — it boots your machine with third-party drivers, startup items, and background services disabled.macOS (Apple silicon): shut down, then press and hold the power button until "Loading startup options" appears, pick your startup disk, then hold Shift and click Continue in Safe Mode. macOS (Intel): restart and hold Shift until the login window appears. Windows 11/10: Settings > System > Recovery > Restart now under Advanced startup, then Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart > choose Safe Mode with Networking.Launch Illustrator and try the copy/paste that was failing. If it works in Safe Mode but breaks again in a normal boot, something on your system is interfering — keep reading. If it still fails in Safe Mode, the problem is inside Illustrator or its preferences, and you can skip to the preferences reset further down.Close other apps, plugins, and window managersThis is the most common culprit by a wide margin, especially on macOS. Anything that touches the system clipboard or watches window state can silently intercept or corrupt what Illustrator is trying to copy.The list of confirmed offenders from community threads is long. Worth quitting if you have any of them running:Window managers (macOS especially): Magnet, Rectangle, BetterSnapTool, Moom. Adobe's own Known Issues page now lists window manager apps as a cause of Illustrator lag and recommends turning them off while using Illustrator. Clipboard managers and history tools: Paste, Pastebot, Clip Menu, Windows Clipboard History (Win+V), Parallels Toolbox Clipboard History, Pasteboard syncing in iCloud. Remote access and screen-sharing tools: TeamViewer (especially "Use Shared Clipboard"), Chrome Remote Desktop, AnyViewer, Parallels Tools. Peripheral software: Logitech Options/Options+, certain mouse-pointer highlighters, the Xcode iOS Simulator. Less obvious ones: Outlook running in the background has been pinned by multiple users; Vector Magic has also shown up.The fastest way to find your culprit is to quit everything non-essential, confirm Illustrator works, then bring apps back one at a time until the problem returns. If you're on macOS, check the menu bar — half the offenders live up there silently.Turn off antivirus / endpoint security temporarilyReal-time antivirus scanning can intercept clipboard activity, particularly the larger PDF/AICB payloads Illustrator writes when you copy vector objects. ESET Smart Security, ESET Endpoint, Digital Guardian, and at one point Microsoft Defender have all been confirmed to cause copy-paste failures or full Illustrator crashes on copy.Disable real-time protection for a few minutes and test. If that fixes it, don't leave protection off — instead, add Illustrator (and its scratch disk and preferences folders) to your antivirus exclusion list, then re-enable real-time scanning. Most security suites have an exclusions or allow-list section under their Web/Real-time protection settings.Corrupted preferences — the silent saboteurWhen Illustrator's preferences get corrupted, weird things happen, and clipboard failures are near the top of the list. Resetting them is faster than it sounds.To reset preferences, open Preferences > General (Cmd/Ctrl+K), and then select Reset Preferences.."Not enough memory" / "operation cannot complete" when pastingIf your paste fails specifically on heavy artwork — lots of effects, big, linked images, thousands of anchor points — and you see a memory error, this is a different beast from the clipboard problems above. Illustrator has run out of room to materialise the pasted object.Things to try, roughly in order:Free up disk space on your scratch disk. Illustrator spills to disk when RAM fills up, and if the scratch volume is nearly full, paste fails. Aim for at least 20–40 GB free. Add a secondary scratch disk. Edit > Preferences > Plug-ins & Scratch Disks (Illustrator > Settings on macOS). Set the Secondary Scratch Disk to a different drive with plenty of space, then restart Illustrator. Close other RAM-hungry apps. Photoshop, Premiere, browsers with 80 tabs, Docker, anything Electron-based. Check Activity Monitor / Task Manager to see what's actually eating memory. Simplify what you're copying. Flatten transparency (Object > Flatten Transparency), rasterize complex effects, or break the selection into smaller chunks and paste in two or three passes. Embed or unlink as appropriate. Huge, linked PSDs can blow up the clipboard payload — embedding first sometimes helps, sometimes hurts; worth testing both. Use File > Export Selection or save the selection as a separate .ai and File > Place it into the destination instead of going through the clipboard. We're excited to share a refinement to Ducking that just landed in Premiere Beta 26.5 (Build 12): Auto-update keyframes.This new option is enabled by default and is designed to keep your ducking in sync as your timeline evolves. No more manually regenerating keyframes every time you tweak a clip.What's New?With Auto-update keyframes turned on, Ducking now follows your clip changes automatically. As you trim, move, or swap out the audio you're ducking toward, the music ducking keyframes update on their own to match. Your mix stays in step with your latest edit decisions, without you having to think about it.Where to find itYou'll see the new toggle in the Ducking section of the Essential Sound panel, right above the Generate Keyframes button. It's on by default, but you can switch it off any time if you'd rather drive keyframe generation manually.Auto-update keyframes Why this mattersEditing is iterative. You move a clip, swap a VO take, re-time a section, and suddenly your music ducking is out of sync with the new picture. Auto-update keyframes removes that friction by tying the ducking behavior directly to the target audio you want your music to mix toward.You can:Keep music ducking aligned with VO, dialogue, or SFX as your edit evolves Dial in Sensitivity, Duck Amount, Fade Duration, and Fade Position with live feedback Skip the back-and-forth of regenerating keyframes after every clip adjustment Turn it off when you want full manual controlTry It OutThis feature is available now in the latest Premiere Beta build (26.5, Build 12).
