I think this is a Adobe bug.My question is similar to this one “Top of Window Off-Screen, Unable to Reposition (Mac, Multiple Monitors)” which wasn’t resolved. Except for some work arounds.When I open a file in Indesign, especially on a 2nd monitor, the workspace opens up to something far wider/bigger than the actual screen. This happens every time I restart Indesign, no matter what screen set up I may have.I have tried to resolve this, but no matter what I always end up manually dragging my indesign page/window down, and then to the far left, in order to pull the sides in and make it more manageable. As well when I go to a home 2nd monitor from the setup at work, all the control panels are shifting around. Many end up sitting off the screen, or partially on the 2ndary screen. Which I then need to reposition. Incredibly frustrating.I assume this is an Adobe issue that is not being addressed?

Since updating to the 2026 version, InDesign has been working slower and slower for me, primarily on my iMac. Launching the app takes almost two minutes, the spinning wheel appears roughly every 30 seconds and lasts for up to a minute, and it’s become impossible to. I’ve restarted, updated, and cleared my iMac, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and nothing seems to help. Is there something I’m missing?

After recently updating to InDesign 2026 I now noticed, that PNG exports look horrible. Vectorized elements like path-shapes or fonts export totally fine, only the images get messed up. JPG: PNG:The PNG and JPG ofcourse have the same dimensions, resolution and dpi. Changing the PNG-Quality or turning the transparency on or off does nothing. Turning off "smooth edges" only makes it worse.To my eye it seems like InDesign is rendering out the image in a lower resolution than the rest... It also looks a bit like the preview InDesign generates when you place the image in the document. (I even tried exporting with setting the placed images preview quality to the high setting, but nothing changes in the export.) I'm on a M4 iMac with the newest version of InDesign (21.0.1)

Bonjour Depuis le passage à Indesign 2026, mon ordi ne reconnaît plus les .indd dans l'explorateur comme des fichiers Indesign. Je peux toujours les ouvrir depuis Indesign mais plus depuis l'explorateur où ils affichent une icône vierge. J'ai beau choisir Indesign comme appli par défaut (lors de la tentative d'ouverture ou dans les paramètres Windows) rien à faire. Ça ne veut pas ... Si je désinstalle Indesign 2026 et remet la version 2025 ça refonctionne normalement. Mais dès que je rebascule sur la version 2026, le problème réapparaît. Pour info, je n'ai pas ce problème avec les autres applis de la Creative Suite qui ont également basculé de 2025 à 2026. Pas de souci non plus avec Indeisgn ou tout autre appli sur mon ordi portable aussi connecté à ma Creative Suite. Ca donne plutôt l'impression d'une désinstallation d'Indesign 2025 mal faite sur cet ordi ...

I was trying to change my document size to a smaller page size and it had no effect even with preview button checked on. No matter what preset size I selected or custom size I created had no effect.I saved the document and recreated a new document from scratch and then it worked.  Not sure if this is a software glitch known to anyone using the latest InDesign. P.S. never seen this glitch before.??

I am getting this notification whenever I drag and drop image into InDesign. This has started coming up ever since I updated to version 21.3. It is very annoying. When I close it and drag and drop another image, it comes again. I have turned off this feature but this popup appears the moment I bring any image in any document. What should I do to permanently disable it?

I have added a new Mac device to my CC plan. None of the Adobe fonts are sycing (I’ve tried toggling fonts on and off in the CC app) and all my Indesign files look like the attached (grayed out) Ive done right-click and open with and it is still not recognizing the file type. Any suggestions? 

the original text field is fine, but the copied version always blends out due to being overset. is there a fix/bug or something i need to consider copying text fields?i’m using indesign for 8 years now, primarily on typgraphic products so normally i’m a confident user.

I ran into a problem yesterday with placed images in my document not showing up properly when I exported the file to PDF. It was only some of the pictures, not all of them. At first I thought that there was something wrong with the original image files, so I re-saved them and even went so far as to delete the placed images and place them again. I reset the preferences. Nothing worked.Until now. I’m posting this in case anyone else runs into this problem. It turns out that the fill color of the rectangle behind the placed images had been accidentally set to spot color. Deleting that swatch and replacing it with a regular color swatch fixed everything. Hope this helps.

Need help in Finding the syntax for separation preview….. In the InDesign We are automating the flow through extendtool kit using Javascript where we are facing the problem finding the Proper Syntax for accessing the Separation previews in the Windows panel …. InDesing App » windows » separation previews.. also the shortcut for that is “Shift+F6”. Kindly provide me the Syntax. 

Hello everyone. I have an InDesign document with a rectangular frame that is populated from an "@image" field in a CSV file data merge. The images all have slightly different aspect ratios.After selecting "Fill frame proportionally" in the frame fitting options, the image fills the frame correctly, without leaving whitespace in the rectangle. But then when navigating between records in the data merge, this setting is reset and the scale of the image changes back to default. How can I apply this setting so that it stays for all records in the data merge? Thank you for your help!

See above description. This only happens when I want to set up a new book. A document opens with the present window, as it should. Anyone have any ideas, before I uninstall and reinstall it? Thanks!

My InDesign files are book covers for publishing and when I send the publisher the X-1a high resolution PDF, they flatten the PDF in photoshop and frequently there ends up being a very faint rule, like a box, around some of the type. There is no box actually there in the InDesign file, and it’s not even where the edge of the text box is -- what is causing this and how do I get rid of it?

I am running Creative Suite 2026 on a new Mac Book and am having problems with InDesign features being grayed out. Like the undo and redo functions are greyed out, as is paste in place. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also the ‘group’ and ‘ungroup’ features are greyed out. I can’t figure out how to do a screen grab of a drop down menu.Thank you. Alison Kennedy

Before the 18th, my InDesign program was working fine. My subscription is fine, computer didn't have an update, no one else uses my computer, but on the 18th, it suddenly popped up with these errors: "Cannot load the PATH TYPE.RPLN plug-in. It is dependent on the GENERIC PAGE ITEM.RPLN plug-in, which failed to load. Please check documentation for the GENERIC PAGE ITEM.RPLN plug-in." "Cannot load the PATH TYPE UI.RPLN plug-in. I tried uninstalling & reinstalling, I tried checking if my pc needed an update and updated that. I tried searching for the same results to see if others had the same issue, but I could not find anything. Please, if anyone has any answers, I would love to try it! Normally I can make a rectangle, round the corners then select a corner anchor to move and change the shape while keeping the integrity and editablilty of rounded corners. I haven't changed anything, but all of the sudden clicking on any corner anchor causes the shape to automatically expand, meaning each corner now has 2 rounded anchors. It's as if I'm clicking the Expand button, but I'm not. Any ideas what's happening here?

Hi, Getting a problem with adobe publish online where uploaded documents are appearing like this where you only have a small box rendering.  This is how the document should look (screenshot from indesign) What we’ve tried:Save as idml > open idml > save back as indd Uploaded as a previous link Uploaded as a new link Get other designers to try and upload the document on there computers Changed the settings in the advanced panel to different valuesFYI indesign, chrome and the windows are updated to the latest versions.Anyone else come across this issue? Any other information I can provide to help please let me know.Many thanks,Tom

Hi, I created a presentation with many links to many folders. However, many of the folders and links therein were not used in the presentation. To expedite the bibliography process, I was wondering if I could package the project and maintain the folder structure in which each asset is stored, to come up with a list of all the folders/sources actually used. Thanks for any suggestions/ideas.
