Hi, all! I have been working on marketing materials in InDesign for several years now. I recently found out that the materials are getting a redesign. I will be sent the new native file templates. I need to find the best way to "convert" my existing materials (all documents) into these new templates. I'm thinking the best way is through copying and pasting the elements of one of our old pages into the new template, and then tweaking as needed? I'm not sure if that's the most effective or efficient method, though - I need to update dozens and dozens of documents. Thanks in advance!
I'm working with a book template that someone else created. Screenshot attached. The frame edges, para symbols, text box links are all in bright red, which I find visually distracting. I want to restore them to default color (cyan?). I've tried everything I can think of, even deleted red from swatches, but nothing works. I know it's likely a simple command, but it escapes me. Thanks to all who respond.
I have chapters from a book in a series pdf files. When I open the file in InDesign the words that were in italics appear as regular text. Is there a way to perserve the words that are italicized. I opened the pdf directly in InDesign and it was automaticall converted into an InDesign file. Thanks.
Ich habe in adobe Express eine vorlage erstellt und kan sie jetzt in adobe desgin nicht sehen. Ist in der Rubrik bei Express unter eigene Vorlagen. Kann mir da jemand weiterhelfen?
Hi, i'm struggling to publish my book on KDP. Somehow it tells me that there is text outside the margin. but there is only an image. I have a book with Bleed, the KDP support already confirmed that the pagesize trim, bleed everthing is correct. I even created a copy of the page and deleted just the image, that is accepted by the kdp previewer. Did anyone have something similar or has an idea how to solve this?
Hello!I am working on a large file, 92 pages so far. Last week, while trying to fix some hyperlinks, the entire file crashed and was damaged. I was able to restore it from a backup. However, ever since then it crashes whenever I try to edit certain things. I can't touch certain hyperlinks to edit/delete them and now I can't touch the character styles to edit them.Any advice or insight?Thank you!
I am using both InDesign and MS Word to create a PDF newsletter. I have set Helvetica Neue as the default font in both apps. The letters (text) in both appears identical, but when I enter quotation marks directly within InDesign, they are different than the style of quotation marks in text that I have copied and pasted from Word. The InDesign marks are straight vertical (like this: "), while the Word marks are curved, like commas. How do I make them match?
Hi everyone, I’m having trouble aligning text perfectly across multiple columns in InDesign. Even though I’ve set up equal column widths and margins, the baselines don’t seem to line up evenly from one column to the next. Is there a specific setting or technique I should use to make sure the text aligns consistently across all columns on the page? Any guidance would be appreciated!
We're having issues using the Google fonts Source Sans Pro and Zilla Slab with InDesign CS5.5.An advertising agency is providing us with a document using the above fonts. If we try to edit text boxes InDesign crashes. When the agency provides the same document with the Arial font everything's fine, you can edit the text normally.Maybe there is an issue with the different operating systems? The agency is using MacOs 10.13.6 and we're using Windows 7. Both systems have the required fonts installed. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Adobe community,In indesign, I am setting up nametags, to be printed 4 up on page, and double sided. So for 4 nametags, I ad each nametag to a corner of page, (top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right), and then create page 2 with nametags position left and right swapped, correct for printing. My issue is I have a hundred nametags, and would like to automate the process, how can I do that? The nametags designs are already setup in pdf, so i want to automate the pdf import process. Please help. Thank you
We purchased full family of a type one font, Rotis Semi Sans, 17 years ago as our design choice for branding of our church's magazine, leaflets, posters etc which was a large outlay for us. Until this year we used InDesign CS5 and now have upgraded to the subscription version only to find we can no longer use the Rotis Semi Sans. - does anyone know how to get around this or where the is a newer version of Rotis which we can use? (which isn't highly expensive)
All of a sudden, InDesign has decided to repaginate a non-open file after every edit to the document that IS open. This takes several seconds of modal dialog. Worse, however, is it adding page after empty page to my currently open document as I adjust the spacing on ONE page of it. Also, an unknown number of pages' worth of text has now disappeared from view entirely. And I can find no way to reliably prevent InDesign from allowing spreads to go beyond two pages. I NEVER, NEVER, NEVER WANT THIS. I have experimented with every combination of allowing document and spreads to shuffle, and nothing prevents this behavior reliably. You also can't move the erroneously-positioned added pages to the correct side, again regardless of how you set the shuffling options. So fed up with this mess. If you add a page manually, you can sometimes get it on the correct side, but it's not connected.
Box Section is the Paragraph Style assigned to Reagents Below is the set up for the TOC The first picture below is what it generates. What you cannot see is there are a bunch of categories in white font. I made the font blue in the second image below just so you could see what was missing.IMAGE 1IMAGE 2 I know that ever first tier category has the correct paragraph style. The TOC Section style is a different size font and is blue for both character style and paragraph style. I do not understand why it keeps taking the white font. I have tried starting from scratch several times. I am fairly certain, that I know how to do a TOC. If I create a simple two page document and do the same thing, it works. I don't understand what is going wrong with this one. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I'm new to In Design, but not to Adobe. I created a spread of two parent pages. I then applied them to a couple of two page spreads. With page 2 highlighted I added something to the page. When I go to page 4 the item is there too. If I delete it from page 4 it also disappears from page 2. It does not show up on the parent page. Any ideas?
I scanned a chapter of a book in Acrobat Pro and then opened it in InDesign. In appeared that the superscript endnote numbers in the endnotes pages (not the chapter itself) where missing. I began to type the numbers in manually. Suddenly the superscript numbers appeared but starting in a later endnote. I cannot select these numbers (circled above) to continue to edit the endnotes. After editing about 22 notes, when I delete the pink box and then return the carriage to get to a new line the now another superscript number appears.I think I tried all of the suggestions for not being able to select the text, locked frames, objects, etc. I also tried to copy the text (since the unwanted endnote numbers were not selected) and pasting it in some inserted pages that were unthreading to the endnote. The unwanted superscript numbers still appeared. I assume the program recognized these numbers as notes and that is the problem. I wou
When typing the letter Yansha (්ය) using Sinhala Unicode fonts in Adobe InDesign on a MAC computer, the previous letter becomes the letter Hal (්). How to fix this?
Hi Adobe Team,I'm creating an accessible PDF using Adobe InDesign. I've inserted math equations and added Alt Text using Object Export Options > Alt Text > Custom. However, when I verify the PDF using screen readers or Acrobat’s Read Out Loud feature, the content is being read twice — both the visible math equation and the Alt Text.I would like to ensure that only the Alt Text is read aloud, and the visual equation is skipped. Could you please guide me on the correct workflow to tag math equations so that screen readers read only the Alt Text? Thanks in advance!
Couldn't find any examples.Looked through the developer documentation, but I don't know how to use it.https://www.indesignjs.de/extendscriptAPI/indesign-latest/#ObjectStyle.htmlIs this correct? It doesn't seem to work. It also shows a syntax error for nonprinting.objectStyle.textWrapPreferences.properties = { nonprinting: true, }

Doing a rather large book layout after being away fron InDesign for a while, and suddenly BACKGROUND TASKS is constantly spinning up in my menu panel. When I click on the "spinner," it says "Adding Font - Roboto..." This seems to be perpetual, because it never stops spinning. I think I remember a nifty shortcut to locate and change a font, but I'm not having luck - as I mentioned, I've been away for a while.. I apologize for the somewhat simple question (I used to handle this pretty simply) - - Is there a quick and efficient way to find this wayward font and eliminate it so TASKS can rest?
Hola!
