Today I wanted to work on my Honours project. I am currently making a brand style-guide booklet.I have been using the Adobe Creative Cloud services for years, mainly through my university. This morning when I tried working on my project in InDesign, a bunch of the fonts that I use came up as missing. I thought that it must’ve been a glitch, restarted InDesign. Same problem. Checked my illustrator files that are in the InDesign document. Same problem. I have been using these fonts for ages, never had a problem. I contacted my university and they said that they haven’t revoked any access of any application. I then contacted Adobe who said that apparently, Creative Cloud for Enterprise doesn’t include Adobe Fonts as well as other applications, despite the fact, I was using these exact fonts and services yesterday, the day before, and so on without any problems of the sort. I’d like to know what the heck is going on here. One day I have access to everything, the next, GONE.I’ve done the ba
All the help files and forums say you can anchor an image within a text block eg at the end of a paragraph, and that graphic will read in that order in an accessible PDF (when viewing under the ORDER/Z in the PDF). But I can't get it to order it that way at all – it always drops it to the last reading order on the page no matter where the graphic is anchored to in the text (see screenshot). I just can't figure this out.I've attached the files in case that helps.
Hello, This is my 2nd day this week posting a very frustrating bug on InDesign and I consider this one far worse. In trying to figure out a bug with workspaces on Monday, I exported my current settings, reset InDesign preferences, and imported my settings back in. I did not check the settings. I should have. The generate AI Alt-text box had been rechecked, and I had NEVER manually done that. I have recreated this issue more than 5+ in a row by: Resetting my InDesign preferences to the default and restarting. Reopening InDesign, checking off both Generative AI boxes in preferences Export those settings, reset preferences back to default on reset, and reopen InDesign When you reopen InDesign and import your preferences (they should be default with both Gen-AI boxes UNCHECKED), the “Auto-generate Alt Text when placing images” WILL BE TURNED ON EVERY TIME WITHOUT FAIL.I have a screen recording of this process working and showing that the boxes WILL check themselves upon importing setting
Hello. When I place jpegs into frames grey lines appear over half the box. I have the highest quality view setting on. Has anyone experienced this before? <Title renamed by MOD>
I’ve just discovered a bug in which the following workflow causes an error:-Create a layered Illustrator file-Place in InDesign-Select Object Layer Options and change layer visibility-Copy placed file-Paste on next page (file will appear low-res -Adjust Object Layer OptionsI then get the following message: I haven’t iterated through this to try to figure out other errors or a workaround.
I needed to open an Acrobat PDF in InDesign- THEY ARE BOTH ADOBE PRODUCTS. The fact that it's 2024 and InDesign cannot open an Acrobat file is bad enough. But what's worse is that they're bragging about a "new Beta feature" that "converts PDFs to InDesign". But get this: only if the PDF was created in InDesign.It would be comical if it were so mind-numbingly indicative of the total lack of effort that Adobe puts forth these days. There's "resting on your laurels" and then there's this.
I’m trying to insert a textframe into a tables cell: for (var r = 0; r<table.rows.length; ++r) { var cell = table.rows[r].cells[0]; cell.contents = ""; cell.cellType = CellTypeEnum.TEXT_TYPE_CELL; var myFrame = cell.textFrames.add(); myFrame.geometricBounds = [0, 0, 20, 40]; myFrame.contents = "!"; };This leads to the error that a “graphic cell cannot contain a textframe” (Error 11310). But I explicitly set it to CellTypeEnum.TEXT_TYPE_CELL, right?How does this work?
I've just been trying the InCopy on the web (Beta). I sent an invite to someone and assigned them a text box as a collaborator to test amending the copy. However, they are saying it comes up with "You don't have access to this file". They have made an account with the same email address and are using Google Chrome. Does anyone know why it is saying they don't have access and what I can try to fix it?
Hanging puctuation in InDesighn does not work very well. Sorry to say, Quark XPress is far superior. Maybe I do something wrong – I do it by the book/manual – and it does not look good. Any tips from professionals?Egil Haraldsen
Hello, how do I get rid of this message? It has been appearing since 21.2.“Adobe InDesign 2026” wants to access data from other apps.Thank you for your help and feedback.
I have this little floating panel all of a sudden and can't figure out how to hide it. I'll try and describe it. On the far left is a home button, next to it says Adobe InDesign 2023, to the right has a light bulb symbol and a blue share button, then my workspace name. then an Adobe Stock search bar. Its getting annoying just floating around. Its a horizontal skinny panel.
var productFrame = app.activeDocument.textFrames.add(); productFrame.properties = { strokeWidth : 0, fillColor : "None", contents : "!", flexItemHeightMode: FlexWidthHeightMode.FLEX_FILL };I get the error that “FlexWidthHeightMode is not defined”What am I missing?https://www.indesignjs.de/extendscriptAPI/indesign-latest/#TextFrame.html
I’d like to see Adobe propagate AI-generated Alt-text descriptions back to the original image files’ metadata This currently would be a good idea for a coder to generate a script (e.g., copying from Object Export Options and updating via Bridge/Photoshop).
Hello, after the last post with at last count about 46k views, this is a major issue with a thread that is now missing? Some have said it has resolved but I haven’t been able to get it resolved because Windows Update KB5078127 isn’t available for me after checking for updates (in AUS running 25H2).The problem is that for files saved on OneDrive, InDesign crashes upon open or when trying to save.What another helpful user has said:Discovered a workaround on this, thanks to the help of our support company Air IT Group. On opening the file, make a change in the document (e.g add a cyan square to pasteboard), rather than 'save', click 'save as' and save as over the existing file name > then close the file > reopen the file again and 'save' function should now work without falling over, erroring or crashing out. Each time you open it for the first time, you'll need to do the 'save as' each time over existing file name for it to work. It's a frustrating workaround but at least you'll be
Hello, is anyone able to use InDesign now ? I am experiencing a severe issue with InDesign where files are reported as corrupted, and I am unable to save them under any circumstances. When opening an older file, InDesign initially reported that some image links were missing. I relinked and updated all the images. After updating the images, the file suddenly started showing as corrupted. Attempts to repair the file failed, and I could not save the file. To troubleshoot, I tried creating a completely new document. Even in a brand new file, as soon as I add a colour block to the parent page, InDesign immediately reports that the file is corrupted and will not allow saving (while it's a brand new file ?!) I have tried multiple versions of InDesign, including 2025 and 2026/21.1, and also reinstalled the software and reset preferences, disabled GPU preferences, but the issue persists. Every time I attempt to add a certain colour block, the file becomes unsavable. I tried t
Walter
we are needing PDF files for process into a document storage software…. the Print shop uses a .VPC file for the Xerox Free Flow that is driving the printers.
i have so many swatches, when selecting the option to delete all unused, it doesn't go!
Hi, I need your help. I save my InDesign files to my desktop computer. When I open the files, all the photos start to disappear and I get colored lines in place of the photos. I keep all of the linked photos in the same folder that InDsign file is saved. Can you help me understand why this is happening? I do not want to drop the photos back into the layout as there are too many to drop back into the entire mulit-paged layout. Thank you so much! Cheers, Matt
Hi All, I have taken over a document from an ex colleague. It is set-up to iPad Pro (12.9in).He had massive images in small picture boxes that, when exported to an epub file, is approaching 1.4gb. I am in the process of streamlining and organising this document to see if I can drastically bring the exported file size right down. I have set-up a grid of picture boxes at 624px wide by 334px high. These will contain thumbnail images and, when converted to buttons, will take you to another page. To populate these picture boxes, I have set-up a Photoshop document at the same size as the picture boxes of 624px wide by 334px high and at 300ppi. The PSD has 32 layers, so I have used the Export Layers to Files option, but the images pulled-in to the picture boxes don’t not appear at the sizes the images have been exported to. They are all 624px wide by 334px high at 300 ppi but come in at 149.76px wide by 80.16px high but with the actual and effective ppi being 300. Am I missing something? Shou
Hi, I'm trying to open some files I created in an older version of InDesign in the current version. All of the photos are appearing with this black box and coloured lines. The links to the photos are not broken. Does anyone know what the problem is? Cheers,Elise
I have big issues to export my Indesignfile to PDF. I really need help. I have tried all that I can find in Adobe Helpcenter. Restarted my Mac etc. The error message I get is 'This document contains links to files/URLs that are not accessible.' Check your network connection or the original content source. And this: '2 issues (1 error) found with background data. Could not export PDF file.'
I am sitting within an enterprise environment and have just discovered that I am unable to convert PDFs into InDesign. This was a problem before but was resolved by adding me to an enterprise group. All the settings from that group are still in place but I’m back to getting the error below. I successfully imported the same PDF into Illustrator, but when I tried to open the Illustrator file from InDesign, got the same error.Ideas?
I'm trying to edit a reference in the index, and it's not bringing up the option to edit the page range
