Hi I am fairly new to InDesign and am trying to create a Table of Contents. I have created a Paragraph Style with Large text, in bold, callled 'Table of Contents Heading'. If I create some text using this paragraph style it shows exactly as I want. However, when I try to create a Table of Contents, and instruct InDesign to use this for the Title Style, it just shows a basic White Text. I have attached  a couple of marked up screenshots showing the Table of Contents with the wrong Title Style and odd objects, and also a screen shot of the TOC Settings. The Green shows the Parapgraph Style in a normal Text Box, all Good.The Red shows the TOC Title which should look the same as the text circled in Green.The Orange shows items I have no idea where they have come from. Nothing I try makes any difference. I am updating a document from two years ago. I’m attempting to convert Montserrat to the version served by Adobe fonts, and the Find/Replace Fonts dialog will not allow me to select all of the weights I have activated. The typeface appears to be split between two identical entries, both titled “Montserrat (OTF)” - one entry contains three weights, the other contains the remaining 15. When I attempt to replace the old, deactivated font in Find/Replace Fonts, I select the first of these duplicate entries, and I have the option below to choose between three weights. If I select the second of the entries, I can still only access those same three weights. There is no way I can see to select any of the remaining 15 weights of the typeface, so Find/Replace becomes useless and I have to manually make these changes across the entire document, and within all of the Paragraph and Character Styles.I have deactivated and deleted all other versions of Montserrat, only activating the Adobe Fonts vers

I've used InDesign for at least 15 years and until a few years ago it was great. But over the past few years it has gotten worse and worse in regard to crashing and just doing odd things. This has been my experience, first when I got a top of the line 2020 iMac with an M1 chip, and now with a brand new Mac Studio with an M2 Max chip, 64GB memory and Apple Studio monitor. The main issue is that it crashes on an almost daily basis. Fortunately I haven't lost a file yet, but it's still annoying. I've been on the phone with Adobe tech support a number of times, but despite removing the preferences, updating the OS and app version, etc, etc, any improvement lasts maybe a week.   It also does weird things like defaults to a different workspace arrangement everytime I leave InDesign to momentarily work in another program. I've reset my preferred workspace (no docs open) numerous times.  Occasionally things like text color or edits don't view properly. I have to toggle

Hi, I'm using InDesign (Beta) via the AI Assistant panel, and every time I submit a prompt, I get this message:"This version of InDesign (Beta) is out of date. Update to 21.6.0.58 or later to keep working. Get it from Creative Cloud > Apps > Beta > InDesign (Beta)."The problem is, when I go to Creative Cloud Desktop > Apps > InDesign (Beta), it shows Version 21.6 as the currently installed version, and under "Other versions" it lists 21.6 as the latest version available (with only older builds — 21.5, 21.4, 21.3, 21.2 — listed below it). There's no option to update to anything newer than 21.6.I've already tried:Fully quitting and relaunching the app Uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign (Beta) completelyThe warning persists every time. Is 21.6.0.58 not yet rolled out to all accounts/regions? Is there a way to manually check for or force this specific sub-version? You share for review doesn’t work. There are ton of comments my clients have put on the review link but none of them are showing now.Why do you keep releasing these untested garbage features, if it can’t work at a basic level. 

Missing fonts are Minion Pro Semibold, Minion Pro Italic, and Myriad Pro Semibold. 

Is there any plugin or extension that can connect  doc files that have 100s of pages to InDesign, including photos? I have heard about the Drivesync, but never used it.

Mijn document heeft verschillende linkjes in de tekst staan, ook over meerdere regels. Echter wanneer de link op de eerste regel eindigt met een / of een _, breekt de link ook als ik het exporteer naar PDF. De link die daarboven staat, werkt wel gewoon in z'n geheel. Is er een oplossing, zonder dat ik alle links bij langs moet gaan en apart een hyperlink moet gaan toewijzen?

 What are the basic tools I need to start studying UXP—specifically, to migrate code from ExtendScript to UXP?

I realize this is a common issue for users but I cannot publish online, get an error 18 message every time. I am absolutely connected online, i have done everything i can to address the issue based on what I’ve read in the forum, and nothing is working. Why is it that there are no human beings to talk to about this with? Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone would happen to know how to fix this issue. I am using InDesign and have a doube page spread. When I zoom in, the page automatically scrolls to the left. When i go to use the scroll bar at the bottom to scroll it back over right, it won't let me select it. So i'm not able to scroll horizontally, but i can scroll vertically just fine. I have been looking into how to fix it and tried everything. Changed my mouse, did CTR+ALT+SHIFT when opening, closed and opened the app, and reset my computer. What else can I try? It's only in Indesign that this happens, and not just on one file, I have opened other files to test too and it won't top doing this, thanks

Comparisons between Original, Illustrator and the weird InDesign Bengali typesettingAm trying to typeset a document in Bengali. This is using a Bangla font from Adobe Fonts. I could get it to match the correct wordings using Illustrator (with “Show Indic Options” selected under Preferences, but I cannot get it to work in InDesign even with the Language set to “Bengali (India)”. I tried selecting “World-Ready Paragraph Composer” but it looks even more “off/wrong”.What am I doing wrong? I tried installing the middle east InDesign but it’s still the same.I have tried troubleshooting with the Adobe live support and had a 40 min call / remote desktop sessions with them but they don’t understand what’s the problem either.Please help as I don’t want to rely on Illustrator for this book I am working on!

Almost everyday, I have an issue where the top of the InDesign window is off the screen, which means I can't move the window around to position it properly on my monitor. The solution I've found is to use Mission Control to shift the InDesign window on to another monitor, which typically shifts it down just enough to be able to click the top of the window and drag it down more. Sometimes resizing the window will cause it to pop back on to the screen properly, but that doesn't always work. I'm flagging this because it doesn't happen with any other Adobe programs, and it's consistent enough to be really disruptive to my workflow.As an aside, multiple-monitor performance across Adobe programs is quite poor in general; pop-up windows for things like exporting, effects, etc. often appear on different screens at random, and still do so even after being repositioned in a prior use. After updating to InDesign 21.5.1, basic functions such as dragging and dropping images, Ctrl+S, and Ctrl+Z stopped working properly.Three days ago, I downgraded to InDesign 21.4 and continued working on my project.However, when I tried to reopen the file I had worked on yesterday, InDesign would no longer launch properly.I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Creative Cloud, but InDesign is the only application that still refuses to work.I also used the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to completely remove InDesign and then reinstalled it, but the problem remains. My Indesign hangs and then I have to restart it whenever I use links or update links. I've tested with all documents on the hard drive and a portable drive - same thing. It is driving me mad. This is on all documents, not just one. Any ideas?

hi, i am currently in y13 (uk) and i am looking to get a new laptop which can run photoshop and indesign because they are what i use for my media coursework and my current laptop can only run photoshop. i would also like my laptop to last me as long as possible (atleast through uni!) and also preferably be lighter so i can take it with me wherever possible so i can finish work on the go any suggestions would be highly appreciated!! obviously cheaper the better but i wouldnt mind investing in a good laptop if it will last longer, ive heard macs are good but i am a hardcore fan of android/samsung so any other suggestions that arent apple would be amazing :)

I placed a PSD file with transparent background into InDesign, and it adds white background to it. I checked the fill on the frame, but it set to none. I worked on the file two weeks ago and it worked fine. I tried placing another PSD file in a new ID file, but it also fails.When I click "view > overprint preview" or export the file to PDF it looks alright.I use latest InDesign CC, Photoshop CS6 and Windows 10.

Mac Indesign 21.4.1 Undo/Redo does not work. Plus stability issues. Never had stability and lagging issues with Indesign until last couple updates. Very frustrating and complicates my workflow. Need to force quite often as well. Bad update. I am thinking about reinstalling earlier versions.

Hello, Im looking to make a script to facilitate a mockup I'm doing, and usually i resize boxes automatically to fit the text or description, but for this one i need it to be one line only and make the overtext appears as "...”.I’ve tried looking for a solution but haven't found any so i came here. I tried tabulation but it just goes to the next line if the text reach the 3 dots, and ive tried looking at all the paragraph parameters too but i can’t find anything helpful (or i missed it).Maybe with a grep replacement ?Thanks in advice for anyone answering !

Hello! So my team and I have been adding alt text to images in PhotoShop and then using Object Export Options with “From XMP: Alt Text (Accessibility)” selected for the Alt Text Source. In InDesign, this works great. We can see the alt text. But it does not seem to transfer to PDF when exported.
