Hi Adobe Team,I’d like to suggest an enhancement to Photoshop’s masking workflow that could benefit both intermediate and advanced users. Currently, creating precise masks from colour data often requires multiple steps — using channels, Apply Image, Selective Color, and Levels — which can be fiddly and unintuitive. My idea is an Advanced Masking Panel where users could: Select a source channel (RGB, Lab, or individual channels) Adjust hue range sliders to isolate specific colours Adjust luminance sliders to target highlights, midtones, or shadows Preview the mask live and refine it interactively before applying This would allow users to isolate very specific pixels — for example, only the brightest blue highlights in wave spray — without inadvertently selecting background elements. The workflow would remain non-destructive, visual, and much more accessible, reducing trial-and-error while retaining full creative control. It’s a small enhancement conceptually, but it could dramatical
I would like to be able to export my masking from camera raw, to a new layer with layer mask. Today you need to mask and edit in raw, then make a new mask in photoshop for further edits.
I‘ll have another stab at this as I don’t understand this script behaviour:Basically two commands var id123 = charIDToTypeID( "Invs" );executeAction( id123, undefined, DialogModes.NO ); Inverse selection (not inverse pixel colour) - works fine show/hide the crawling ants selection by toggling it: app.runMenuItem(stringIDToTypeID("toggleEdges"));toggles the visibility of the current selection on/off Yay! Two tiny bits of code work just fine. However... they don’t run one after another, you can’t inverse the selection and then hide the selection. I’ve tried. I have no idea why. I’ve added a delay, separate scripts, separate actions, toggle the selection twice. No dice. I’m stumped as to why the two bits of code won’t work sequentially. Any ideas? Answers on a postcard
Once in a few days or so, when I open PS all the recent files are gone from the starting screen, I have to go and open them manually again which makes working with PS tedious because I work with a lot of files in many folders. This issue has been reported over and over for months now and yet there has not been done anything abuot it. We pay real money for this and depend on it with our work and livelihood.Fix it!
When I go outside the last version of Photoshop (27.4.0) and come back, this window appears and the app start to very slow down..
I created this poster 2 years back and are trying to recreate it but are struggling lol, I have found the original file displacement map and recreated the text too but displacement map is not working correctly. It is not effecting the edge of the text as desired it is essentially just shifting the outline of the text does that make sense? not affecting the edges as I originally did it?
The lasso tool jitters when holding the Alt key to draw straight lines, and sometimes it loses control.
Please add a way to preview a brush-line (brush tool when holding the shift key) like Clip Studio Paint does. It allows you to see where your brush will draw the line before you tap. See the attached image.
Please add an option for the brush and eraser tools to display both the brush tip shape and the tool icon simultaneously. This means showing the brush tip outline along with the brush tool icon (and also adding icons for other brush shapes, similar to the cursor settings in Krita and Clip Studio Paint). This would be extremely helpful for 2D designers when drawing line art, especially on 4K screens where the default small crosshair is tiring to the eyes and makes it difficult to locate the cursor.
Looking for a fun way to give your photos a hand-crafted feel? Try turning them into pencil sketches using just a few tools in Photoshop. This simple technique is great for portraits, architecture, or even still life — and it works with any photo you already have. No tablet or drawing skills required. Try it in the Desktop App Download the latest version and dive into the new features offered in Adobe Photoshop. This step-by-step guide walks you through how to create a pencil sketch effect that mimics real graphite lines and paper texture. Once you’ve tried it, share your results here in the community — we’d love to see your take on it. Step-by-Step: Photo to Pencil Sketch 1. Duplicate Your Image: Duplicate your image layer and select the top layer and go to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate or use Command + Shift + U to make it black and white. 2. Invert Your Second Layer: Duplicate the desaturated layer. Then invert it using Command +
Is it possible to Batch convert Jpg images into .pat files? I am familiar with the define pattern function but what I really need is to convert many jpg's.Thanks
I am reaching out to understand why UXP (the new plugin framework) does not expose a direct API to trigger and run existing ExtendScript (.jsx) files. In CEP (Common Extensibility Platform), we had the ability to use evalScript to run ExtendScript code within the same workflow. This offered immense flexibility and allowed us to leverage the full power of Photoshop scripting alongside UXP’s new features. However, with UXP, this functionality seems to be completely missing, and I am left wondering:Why doesn't UXP allow us to run legacy .jsx scripts directly from the plugin? Why isn’t there an official way to trigger scripts that are already installed in Photoshop (e.g., in the Scripts folder) via UXP?Is there a specific limitation or future roadmap that prevents UXP from including a function like evalScript? The ability to run scripts and control Photoshop deeply was one of the core strengths of CEP. By removing this functionality, we’ve lost a lot of power in terms of automation, scriptin
I’m using Photoshop CS6 and Windows 10. I want to insert a star (★) character within a text layer Photoshop CS6. If I type Alt+9733, which is supposed to be the Alt number for this character in Windows, Photoshop inserts a Clubs (♣) character instead. So does my browser, ironically - although almost all other Windows apps display a star character when I type Alt+9733. If I copy and paste a star character (such as the above one) into Photoshop, then the font in Photoshop changes to Myriad Pro, (goodness why it chooses that font in particular!) which displays a rectangle with a cross through it like this: If I try to change the font from Myriad Pro to, say, Arial, it won’t let me - it insists on displaying the character I’ve pasted in Myriad Pro and I can’t change the font. Is there any Alt code that will work in Photoshop CS6, as Alt+9733 doesn’t? Alternatively, is there any way of pasting a star character into Photoshop CS6 without causing the font to change to one that doesn’t suppor
Even the Adobe docs under: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/layer-opacity-blending.html are not very good. AFAiCT Blend If does one thing and one thing only; it changes the Transparency of the pixels in the upper layer. I tried Gemini AI and it returns a short and completely wrong answer.
Please AI help us with one of the nastiest things in Photoshop history, the naming and sorting of layers in groups. One click and AI sorts and renames layers by its look. Doesn´t have to be perfect and a undo function should be available. But could help a lot. And/or V2: I can prompt a set of rules how to clean up my mess. (All buttons in group etc)
Lightroom and Photoshop have gotten really slow since I got a 4k wide gamut monitor, and the fan in the computer gets real loud. It’s a Dell XPS 8950 Intel Core i9 12th Gen 12900K with 32 GB memory. Graphics is a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080.I have Lightroom and Photoshop set to use the GPU, but when they bog down and the fan speeds up it’s the CPU usage that spikes, not the GPU.Am I doing something wrong or do I just need a faster CPU?
I’m requesting the ability to have multiple Quick Export commands in Photoshop’s File > Export menu, rather than a single, global Quick Export format controlled in Export Preferences.Right now, Quick Export only allows one format at a time (for example PNG or JPG), so users must open Preferences and change the Quick Export format every time their output needs change. This is especially painful in workflows where exports regularly alternate between PNG and JPG (or other formats), such as preparing assets for different platforms, clients, or usage contexts. In my day‑to‑day work, I often need: PNG files with transparency for UI elements, icons, and overlays. JPG files optimized for smaller file sizes for mockups, presentations, and quick client reviews. Switching the Quick Export format each time adds unnecessary friction and breaks the “quick” part of Quick Export. It also increases the chance of mistakes—for example, exporting to JPG when I meant PNG because I forgot to switch the
Hello, We need to be able to preserve selected option in OpenEXR import dialog via settings, so we can batch-process .exr files.Best regards,Petr MaxaTake Two Interactive
The available cut marks in the Print dialog are fine but when using trimmers the marks are cut away leaving no mark for the next cut. ImagePrint has a cut mark in cross-like style. This allows trimming the print and still have the marks visible at all positions. Attached is jpg file of a screen capture of ImagePrint’s cross cut mark. We have used this for many years, When we print in Photoshop we have to stroke the cut line wasting time and ink. It would be nice to have that option in Photoshop
Hi, I did sliced canvas in Photoshop 24.7 and after I clean all the slices. I try to export with “Save For Web” and this window appears. How can I fix it?
On 27.3 Release, when you use a tool such as eraser or paint brush, when you click your mouse to use the tool, the picture you're working on brightens for the time you click on the mouse. See video here: https://youtu.be/OAdity91f58 Anyone else having the same issue?
Hi, all brushes, including clone brush is repeating in lines across the image like a ball bouncing from origin and side to side up and down.
Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this: I have a Canon Selphy CP1500, when I try to print an image Photoshop closes. No error message. If I save the image then open it in Photoshop Express it prints so I believe this eleminates the printer and my Windows 11 computer as the source of the proplem. Thank you.
