Photoshop version 27.8 is live: More image models, smoother workflows!

The June 2026 Photoshop update is here, bringing more creative choices and meaningful workflow fixes. What’s newThis release expands creative choice in Generate Image with access to custom‑trained AI models, similar to what you’ve seen with Generative Fill. You can now choose from Adobe and partner models, including Firefly Image 5, Flux.2 Pro, and Gemini, making it easier to explore different visual styles, achieve stronger photorealism, and get results that stick closer to your prompts. Whether you’re experimenting with concepts or polishing production‑ready visuals, having multiple models at hand gives you more control over how your ideas come to life. Bug fixes — thanks to you!Your feedback continues to shape these updates. In this release, we’ve addressed several customer‑reported issues to make everyday workflows more reliable:Canvas size relative mode fields display incorrect default values, reject zero and negative values, and use incorrect increment steps. Add support to rename smart objects. Image > calculation > Source Dropdown list does not show other copies. Canvas size relative values are not captured in Actions when the Modern User Interface is enabled. Unable to resize Dynamic Text   bounding box when only a few words are present in a large text box. Transform tool no longer retains the selected interpolation method after restarting Photoshop. For a complete breakdown, see the full list of fixed issues in the release notes. How to updateTo get Version 27.8, open the Creative Cloud desktop app and update Photoshop from the Apps tab. Once updated, you’ll see the new model options available directly inside Generate Image. Join the conversationHave you tried the new image models yet? We’d love to see how different models change your creative output, share what you’re generating, what’s working best for your prompts, or any feedback you have for future updates.

The Express AI Assistant beta just got better

The Express AI Assistant beta just got better

Go from first prompt to publish-ready — without leaving Express If you've been in the AI Assistant beta, you already get the idea. Today, it gets a lot more powerful.Starting June 18, the AI Assistant imaging update is live in Adobe Express, and this is the version we've been building toward.  What's new?The earlier beta let you describe what you wanted and see the assistant take action. This update goes further: re-imagine any image in a single prompt while keeping the parts you love intact, then keep layering. Crop, add filters, adjust lighting, and more until every detail lands exactly where you want it. Prompts and manual edits work together in the same flow, so you're never choosing between AI speed and hands-on control. Here's what that looks like in practice:Turn a casual snapshot into a polished professional headshot in seconds. Spin up product shot variants for a campaign without a full reshoot. Remove distractions, swap backgrounds, or take yourself from city to beach. Kawaii your cat. Remove the person who always blinks. Make a meme. Go wild. When you're done, drop your finished visuals straight into a social post, flyer, or presentation — without ever leaving Express.  Why did we build this? Honest answer? Because fast and finished are not the same thing. We kept hearing the same thing from creators: the AI output gets you most of the way there, but the final details (the crop, the lighting tweak, the background swap) still mean jumping to another tool. That breaks the flow. This update is built to close that gap. How to find it: Head to our AI Assistant landing page, toggle on AI Assistant Beta, then select Edit image. Not sure where to start? Browse the built-in presets (Kawaii, gel lighting, professional headshot, and more) to find a style that fits, then use prompts to make it yours. From there, dial in the details with Express's full manual editing toolkit. Already using Brand Kits, the Content Scheduler, or the Clip Maker? This fits right into that same workflow. Create, refine, and publish without breaking stride.  A few things to know! AI Assistant is in beta on desktop only, available to personal Premium and Free plan accounts. Teams, Enterprise, and Education plans aren't supported yet. Access is rolling out gradually worldwide; if you see "coming soon," you're in the queue. No sign-up needed: if you're eligible, a welcome message will appear when you visit the link above. On credits: image editing actions like restyling, adjusting, and modifying your existing photos don't consume your free daily generations. Actions that generate entirely new content (like inserting objects or generating a new image from scratch) do. Free plan users get a daily allotment; Premium users get monthly generative credits for more.AI Assistant is available in English, French, German, Japanese, Hindi, and Brazilian Portuguese, with more languages on the way. Give it a tryJump in, run a few prompts, and see where it takes you. Whether you've been in the beta from day one or this is your first time, share your before/after or favorite result in the replies. We'd love to feature what you're making. What's the first image you're going to transform: a headshot, a product shot, something totally unexpected? Drop it below.

Selection and Type tools in Illustrator

Selection and Type tools in Illustrator

We're back with the next round of our "similar tools" series. Last time we broke down the most commonly confused tool pairs. This time we're looking at two groups of tools that share a job but not a method - because Illustrator gives you more than one way to select an object, and more than one way to set type, and each tool works at a different level.Pick the wrong one and a quick edit turns into a fight with your own artwork. Pick the right one and you stay in full control. Selection Tool vs. Direct Selection Tool vs. Group Selection Tool — Same click, three different levelsThe Selection tool (V) grabs an entire object or group and lets you move, scale, or rotate it as one unit. The Direct Selection tool (A) goes a level deeper, letting you pick individual anchor points and path segments to reshape the artwork itself. The Group Selection tool sits between the two - it selects a single object inside a group without breaking the group apart. Object, path, or group: once you know which level you're working at, selecting stops being a guessing game and becomes precise control. Learn more here.Type Tool vs. Area Type Tool vs. Touch Type Tool — Three ways to set text, one right tool for the jobThe Type tool is your go-to for headings, labels, and short freeform text placed anywhere on the canvas. The Area Type tool flows text inside a shape or container, wrapping it neatly within the boundary you draw - ideal for paragraphs and structured layouts. The Touch Type tool lets you nudge, scale, and rotate individual characters while the text stays fully editable, so you can fine-tune your typography without outlining it. Three tools, three jobs: placing, containing, and refining.Learn more here.Share Your FeedbackWhich of these tools do you reach for most - and which one used to trip you up? Illustrator Creative Challenge #2: Vectorize a Beach Photo in Illustrator

Illustrator Creative Challenge #2: Vectorize a Beach Photo in Illustrator

We've all got a beach photo we love — a sunset, a shoreline, one perfect afternoon — sitting at phone resolution, too small to ever print. For this challenge, let's set one free.Welcome back to the Illustrator Creative Challenges, our monthly nudge to open Illustrator, try something new, and share it. Last time, we designed bakery logos; this month, we're tackling one of the most-searched things designers ever do — turning a photo into clean, scalable vector art. A beach, with its bold light and clear depth, is the perfect place to learn it. The BriefTake a beach photo — a holiday snap, an Adobe Stock frame, a sunset you can't forget — and rebuild it as vectors. Flatten it into bold poster shapes, chase a glowing gradient sunset, or go fully graphic: three colors, hard edges, travel-poster energy. The photo is your reference; the look is your call. What to includeA clear focal point — a palm, umbrella, surfer or boat to anchor the eye. Three layers of depth — sky, sea and foreground, on separate layers. A palette and a look you commit to — flat, gradient-rich, or line-art.    Here's mine — and how I got thereI started with a photo from Adobe Stock: https://stock.adobe.com/in/images/woman-enjoying-sunbathing-at-beach/206356322?prev_url=detail.Concept to Vector did the heavy lifting — I placed the photo and picked the Gemini 3.1 [Nano Banana 2] model, and within seconds had editable vectors instead of pixels. I hit Expand, then spent most of my time in Generative Recolor, pushing the palette toward a warmer golden hour set than the original. Finally, a little Pen tool cleanup, and done.Total time: about 15 minutes - most of it spent choosing colors, not drawing. That's the fun of this one: the tools get you 80% of the way fast, and the taste is all yours.Your toolkitThis challenge is built around two ways in — pick whichever suits you:Concept to Vector — our newest tool: feed it your photo, describe the style, get editable vectors. Image Trace — the classic engine. Pick a preset, tune Paths, Corners and colours, then Expand. Recolor Artwork — clean up the palette or reinvent it. Gradients & Gradient Mesh — for skies and water flat shapes can't carry. Pen & Shape tools — to refine whatever the trace doesn't nail.Use all of them, or just Image Trace and a coffee. The goal is to make something you like. How to submitReply to this thread with:Your final vector and the original photo — we love a good before-and-after. A line or two on your process — which features you used and one choice you made. Honestly, this is the best part to read, so don't skip it.Not ready to post art yet? Reply with the beach you're starting from — drop the reference, and we'll cheer you on.Share your feedbackUp next: you choose Challenge #3. We're torn between two ideas the logo-design world can't stop posting — a t-shirt graphic or a tattoo design. Tell us which one you want below — and if you've got a different idea, drop that too.If you found this helpful, hit 👍 Like. Tap ⭐ Subscribe to be first to see the next challenge. Removal of CD Authoring in Adobe Audition

Audio CDs have served creators for decades, but the way our customers deliver and distribute audio has fundamentally shifted. In an upcoming release of Adobe Audition (25.3) , we will be retiring the application's built-in CD authoring features. Going forward, customers who need to create audio CDs can do so by exporting their finished audio from Audition and burning it through their operating system's native disc tools. This change reflects how production workflows have evolved. The vast majority of today's deliverables are streaming masters, broadcast files, podcasts, video soundtracks, and digital downloads. CD delivery now sits well outside the day-to-day output of most Adobe Audition users, and the disc burning tools built into modern operating systems already handle the small remaining set of cases where a physical audio CD is required.  What is being removed? The following CD authoring features will no longer be available in Adobe Audition: CD Layout view: The panel used to assemble, sequence, and prepare a collection of tracks for a Red Book audio CD will be removed. This includes the ability to arrange track order, set pre-gaps, and configure CD-specific metadata such as ISRC codes and UPC/EAN identifiers from within Audition.  CD Marker type: The dedicated CD Track marker classification will be retired. Standard marker types (Cue, Range, and so on) will continue to function as they do today and will cover the remaining workflows for navigating, splitting, and exporting audio.  CD display format: The time display option that showed playhead position in CD frames (75 frames per second) will be removed. Standard time displays such as, samples, and bars and beats will continue to be available. What is staying?Extract Audio from CD. Ripping audio from a physical CD into Adobe Audition for editing, restoration, or archival work will continue to be supported. Customers working with legacy material, archival projects, or transferring older content into modern formats can rely on this workflow without change.  How to create an audio CD going forward  For customers who still need to deliver audio on physical CDs, the recommended workflow is straightforward:  Finish and master your tracks in Adobe Audition as you normally would.  Export each track as an individual file. WAV at 16-bit / 44.1 kHz remains the standard for Red Book audio CDs.  Use your operating system's built-in disc burning tools to author and burn the audio CD.                      macOS: The Music app supports creating audio CDs from a playlist.                     Windows: Audio CDs can be burned using the disc burning tools included with the operating system. What this means for existing projects Project files that contain CD layouts or CD-specific markers will continue to open. CD markers will be converted to standard markers, and any CD layout content will appear as ordered tracks that can be exported individually. No audio data is lost in the transition. We recommend exporting any active CD layouts to individual audio files prior to updating, so your finished tracks are preserved in a format that is ready for any downstream burning tool. Why we are making this change? We do not take feature removal lightly. Decisions like this are guided by usage data and the broader direction of audio delivery. CD delivery now represents a small fraction of how our customers ship their work, and the tools to burn an audio CD from exported files are built into the operating systems our customers already use. Given this, the CD authoring features in Adobe Audition are no longer needed to support the underlying workflow. There is also a longer-term consideration. Every feature in an application adds weight, and that weight compounds over time. Decades of accumulated capability make it harder for any product to keep pace with new operating systems, hardware architectures, and the broader platform shifts that affect every customer. Reducing surface area that no longer serves modern workflows lightens that load, which matters for every customer who depends on Audition running well on the platforms they use today and the ones coming next.  Questions and feedback If you have questions about the transition, workflow concerns, or feedback you would like to share with the Audition team, please reach out through the Adobe Audition Community Forum, or submit feedback directly within the application via Help > Submit Feedback. We appreciate the trust our customers place in Adobe Audition, and the depth of work that has shipped through this application over the years. Thank you for being part of the Audition community.

Free Resource: DUIK Ángela - the industry standard for rigging and animation in After Effects

Welcome back to our series on free After Effects resources from across the web. If you missed the first one, we covered Camera Crew by Motion Ape well worth a look. This time, we're highlighting a tool that, honestly, needs no introduction for a lot of you. But if you haven't tried it yet, you're in for a treat.  Meet DUIK ÁngelaDUIK Ángela is the 17th major version of DUIK, the comprehensive rigging and animation toolkit built by Nicolas Dufresne and the team at RxLaboratory. It's been actively developed for over 15 years, and at this point it's the go-to rigging script for character animators working in After Effects, used in commercials, music videos, indie films, and animated series all over the world. And it's completely free and open source. What you can do with itDUIK brings the kind of rigging tools you'd expect from a 3D application - IK, controllers, bones, constraints, and adapts them for 2D animation in AE. Once you've got a character rigged, you can pose and animate them like a proper puppet instead of fighting with parented layers. But DUIK isn't just for character work. It also includes a deep library of automations that save hours on everyday tasks - wiggle, spring, bounce, swing, wheel, looper, blink, and even walk and run cycles. There are camera controls, expression and scripting helpers, and a full suite of keyframe and interpolation tools for traditional-style animation. Get started: DUIK Ángela Jumpstart by Jake in Motion - a great beginner-friendly walkthrough  Download it here: DUIK Ángela on RxLaboratory  A quick heads-up: DUIK is powerful, which means it has a bit of a learning curve. The first time can feel overwhelming. Stick with it. Once it clicks, you'll wonder how you ever rigged a character without it. The jumpstart tutorial above is the fastest way in.While you're on the RxLaboratory site, take a look at their other tools too - there's quality work across the whole catalog.  Are you a DUIK user already? Drop a comment with your favorite feature, a workflow tip, or a rig you're proud of, we'd love to see it. And if you're brand new to DUIK and try it out this week, share what you make. We celebrate first rigs around here.If you find DUIK useful, consider supporting RxLaboratory - they keep this alive through donations.
