Photoshop

Something to work on thumbnails  without necessity to upload hi res photos in some cloud? Preferably recognizing subjects  of materials,  like grass, asphalt ,  crumbled paint,  rusted meta,   oil drops, painted lines ,  etc?   Not just location,people faces cats and cars.      Something to process thousands of images?

When I open Photoshop, a white rectangle appears without opening a new file and prevents me from using the application. I deleted and reinstalled it, but it did not work. I deleted the cache files, but it did not work. How can I fix this problem?

I have several folders of  TIFF images.  I need to process them individually, then save them as JPG in the same folder the original TIF was in.I  created an action with provides several of the final steps I need, including the "Save As".  I clicked the "modal" option for the "save as" step, so I can edit the name as need be before saving.My problem is the action "remembers" the directory path in which the action was created (i.e. the first folder).  When I run the action on images I've opened from other folders, it defaults to the first folder.  So I need to navigate to the current folder every time.  This is a pain.How can I just have the action open the save as dialog to the same directory as the currently open image?

I'm suddenly having trouble using the adjustment brush tool. I was using it earlier while working in this file with no issues but now I can't get it to cooperate and I don't understand why.  I've double checked that I'm on the right layer but for some reason nothing happens when I try to use the regular brush to add to my mask. However it will work if I select the "Apply to Object" option.  Any ideas why this is happening? I feel like I'm probably missing something obvious. 

This is probably a dumb question, but how do I break up the tabs in the Color/Swatches/Gradient window? I want to be able to have the color selection bar stacked above swatches, since I go back-and-forth when I'm hunting for the right shade/tint/hue. I've tried the click-and-drag method, but it only lets me rearrange the tab order within the window and won't let me break them up. I can do this in InDesign and Illustrator. So what am I missing? I'm using the most updated Photoshop 2025 on a Windows 10 computer.

In Preferences, General, the "Auto show the home screen" is unchecked, but I still get that big white screen that I have no use for.  I've even checked "Open in legacy new document interface" but that didn't change anything.  I also don't see the command box for AI changes.  Thanks, I hope

Hi.I'm trying to create a panorama using the latest version of Photoshop - File / Automate / Photomerge.The 'Auto' option gives a skewed result, probably because the images were not quite correctly levelled, but the 'Reposition' option seems to work fine.The Adobe documentation for Reposition isn't clear (to me).Can anybody explain why Reposition works ok when Auto doesn't, and outline any disadvantages in using this option?Thanks in anticipation.

Hi there, I'm having an issue where whenever I go to my Brush Presets window, I will click on a saved Clone Stamp preset and it will force itself on to a Brush preset instead. No matter how many times I click on the Clone Stamp prest, it will revert to the brush. I have to then choose the Clone preset I wanted, let it force itself back to the Brush tool, leave the Brush Presets, and hit "S" to go back to the Clone Stamp. Please see attached video. This issue is present in both Photoshop 26.4.1 and Photoshop Beta 26.5 Yes, "Include size" and "Include tool" were checked when creating the Clone all presets.What I have tried thus far:Resetting both the Brush tool and Clone Stamp.Resetting PreferencesReinstalling Saved PreferencesDeleted both version of Photoshop and reinstalled them.Downloaded earlier versions of Photoshop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZndz0METAYIf anyone has any insight, it would be appreciated. hiis there a one-click solution to move my complete PS settings/actions/brushes/palette settings to another mac/PS version? i am using PS since years, and need to move my complete settings to another mac or photoshop beta version from time to time. with "complete settings" i mean: photoshop preferences,, brushes, actions, palette positions, palette settings, ... - once they had "sync over cloud" to move all settings, but it never worked for me (not available)- moving settings manually is awkward and needs lot of time on mac

I want to know when an update arrives, how large the file is. how big is the update in MB, and how many files are being downloaded. I'm surprised this isn't in a drop-down menu in the CCD client. Where do I find this information for every update that comes along?

Hi I'm trying to load some of my actions but a good portion of them have been missing for a good while, and now I've just decided to get into solving this issue. Turns out whenever I try to load them - I still have the action files of course - I get the typical ' unexpected end of file error'. I remember this happened completely randomly back in the end of December. What is that supposed to mean and how am I supposed to fix it and make my actions load again ? I did the correct backup of all my photoshop actions periodically on a regular basis just to avoid situations like this one and suddenly most of them are unusable ? Best regardsKay Frank

Hello PS users,A very basic issue but one that is giving me trouble.I can duplicate the opening layer of a new image (ctrl + J) to keep one version free of edits.  However, my problem is not being able to duplicate the image on the screen such that I have two images on the screen that I can rotate, flip, distort and create interesting permutations.  I have read numerous tutorials but no one has answered the question.  Can anyone help me become a master of duplication, triplication or whatever since I feel very frustrated?   I am using Windows 11, PS 25.6.0 and LRC 14.1.1.Thanks,Photodoc16

I tried to resize an image and change it's aspect simultaneously.  The menu told me to hold the shift key when you want to have different numbers for height  and width.  The problem I'm having is that when holding the shift key down I can't enter numbers but only the symbol above the number.  What am I missing here?

Is it possible to compare two different layers to see if they are in fact the same image?   I'm actually working on a game at the moment. The game map was created by using game sprites created by other people. For example, I found 5 different pictures of trees, and copy pasted them into photoshop multiple times to create a forest. I have 100 trees in my photoshop document, but in reality, they are all made up of only 5 images. I want to save out each of these trees into a format usable by my game engine. I want to save each layer as an image, but avoid saving duplicates. Thus the need to compare layers for equality.   Is it possible to do this within a photoshop script? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I'm on version 26.3 (Mac), and when I double-click a layer and attempt to preview saved custom styles (layer style -> styles), I have to click each one via mouse because the arrow keys don't respond. Also, when I attempt to change the gloss contour under "bevel & emboss," tapping right or left with the arrow keys always skips the adjacent styles (e.g., If there are 7 contour styles and you start at Style 1, clicking the right arrow will select styles 3, 5, and 7 while skipping 2,4, and 6.)  Additionally, I'm not sure if this is specific to my monitor  (Samsung LU28R55) or not, but I typically use Photoshop on my Cintiq and have a duplicate window open on the monitor for previewing. Whenever I wake the computer from idling though, the duplicate image on my Samsung always appears washed, like it changed profiles for some reason. But if I then exit the window and create a new duplicate, the colors appear normal again.  Anyway, nothing major. Just figured I'

Hi hive mind,try as i might, including updating photoshop, sign in and out, and resetting preferences, the generative tool doesnt work. If i select my image, in my case, a car, and select inverse, the generative tool allows me to type in whatever i want, then shows options creating in properties dialogue box with the spinning circle. However, at this point they just disappear like nothing has happened. No result, no layer. Its frustrating the .... out of me! Anyone find a fix for this?Btw, my internet is just fine. Thanks

Leaving this in the hopes someone from the development team sees this. The new crop tool is a huge downgrade, and the software generally runs worse than the 2024 version. I run into more issues than previous models, and many of the ai features seem to be prioritized over the staples that everyday users rely on. Hope that in the future, product development teams can spend more time talking to users, and better support their community.  Throwing this into the ether as it doesn't seem that there is a great spot to post a photoshop review on adobe's product page.

I tried using the command + option + left click to adjust my brush size with the brush tool selected and the correct layer mask I wanted but it keeps bringing up the eye dropper tool and every shortcut option I try from google is not working and I don't have anything open in this desktop other than photoshop so I'm not sure why this is happening. any help is appreciated, thanks. 

Hi guys, this is driving me crazy. I'm trying to enable the shortcut key within the timeline window. Lots of people have said to check that option in the pop out menu... but it's not there! This option is simply not there for me! Also... I want to assign the right arrow key to go to next frame, for example, but if I go to keyboard shortcuts and try to manually input them it says "these key cannot be used" when I try to assign "next frame" to the arrow right key.So, I'm stuck. I am trying to use the dodge tool, but it is stuck on the crosshairs mode and pressing or un-pressing the cap lock key doesn't fix it. I am trying to use the bracket keys to make the tool get into the circle mode and change the size, but nothing happens. It's still stuck in the crosshairs mode. How do I fix this?
