I've built hardware for people in the past but the best option would be a mobile app but it would essentially render the CRM useless for these orders. You'll have to purchase everything under the same account, ie. all POS orders are added to a POS account, as trying to register a user for each POS transaction would be a bad (live) user experience.

Before anyone asks, you can't update or process an anonymous / guest order via the API.

That is not really true,

You can very much do this without those limitations. A few partners for certain clients have already done so. We ourselves have done food ordering IOS and android apps run by different people and sales through the sites all running.

Guarantee you are not using the SOAP API to do that, or you are logging all orders under one name. Anyone could easily build an mobile app like you are talking if you are just serving HTTP to the apps.

Currently it is not possible to update the order / shopping cart via SOAP for a user unless you know their entity ID. Thus anonymous users or guests you can not process their order. I have a bug logged for with adobe for months now since what you can do with HTTP and the standard website you should be able to do with the API. But I doubt it will be looked at due to adobe not caring about the SOAP API anymore and moving to v3

I do not know how your building things then.

A proper scoped POS system for a store etc with an online component, even with SOAP - Do not need to do what your trying to do.

I've built custom hardware POS' for other custom systems, in fact entire inventory, shipping and picking systems. But with BC it is not possible via SOAP to update guest shopping carts so unless you want to clump all your orders into one entity ID you are screwed. As I said I've logged a bug with adobe. Hopefully this stupid limitation is removed with v3 API.

I'm pretty sure that Smart POS company has a BC-compatible solution, it's the pos system my dad used in his shop. To be 100% sure try to contact them or I could ask my dad about it.

We've built a simple front end POS system which hooks into Bc. It doesn't have all the features that shopify or other POS system does but it does have a iPad POS UI which allows you to add products and take payments.

We have done the same and a bit more as well and I know Brendon's company also built something for a client.

So there are plenty of partners that have done this and can do it.

For us, every shop is different and we build the shop for the clients needs and how they operate their company is always different so a one shop POS fits all does not always work out.

You go check out the Shopify forums... Lots of people already asking for edits, changes, and new elements for their needs for the shopify POS. That was always going to be the danger.
