We Need Modeler for MacOS

Community Beginner ,
Dec 22, 2023 Dec 22, 2023

I think that not having Modeler support for MacOS is a major hole in the 3D pipeline for Mac users. I started the 3D trial for the 3D collection, but I think I'll cancel that subscription until modeling support is available for Mac.

MacOS support is actively being worked on, but we currently don't have an ETA.

I am of the same thought. I may cancel my subscription to the Substance Suite until there is a MACOS version for Modeler.

I run the other Substance programs on my Mac, but can not run Modeler! This is a Deal Breaker!

Having Modeler available on the Mac is essential, the rest of the substance suite is a great addition to our tools, but feels a bit pointless without a way to create native models. I'm still learning/playing with 3d and this will open up the 3d world for me, I don't really want to go down the 3rd party route of Maya, Blender etc if I can help it

Tonight, I planned to start exploring Substance 3D Modeler. However, I found out that it's currently not available on my MacBook Pro. Is there an estimated time of arrival for when it will be accessible?

We are actively working on the Mac Port.  Should be available this year.  Will keep you all posted!

Just to share with the community - I've been able to get Modeler working on iMac Pro with Windows 10 installed. It's an old version that's compatible, but can still model just as well as the latest release. I don't know technically what would keep a MacOS release for Modeler, because the Apple hardware absolutely runs it.

Any news if they're still planning a release for later this year?

We are still working on a Mac port, but we are considering if we should release on iOS (IPad Pro first).  Will keep you all posted.

I downloaded the trial version yesterday for the same reason. I thought Modeller came with the package (as advertised in the Creative Cloud platform). Sadly, I wasn't able to download the app on my Mac. Being that is the case, I think it should be widely advertised on the Adobe website that Modeller is NOT available as part of the package for Mac users yet. I will cancel my subscription until an official release date is disclosed.

Thanks for the feedback. Let me see if we can make this more clear.

Can I make a christmas wish? 🙂

Just waiting for this to happen, so the next production can be riddled with 3d sketches/concepts. I've tried pretty much all of the vr modeling apps out there and modeler still is by far the best - imho. So from that point of view, I'd rather postpone the iPad version.

And M1 machines won't be supported at all? That's a given?

You should rather spend the development resources to improve 3D Modeler than to support a platform that doesn't even have VR support! 😞

I download Blender, no substance modeler on Mac. We have try substance stager, sampler, painter.... but no modeler on mac. Blender is a single software for modeling, texturing, directing, animating, filming... I was hoping for a lot from Adobe.

I just installed the Substance suite and discovered that Modeler, is not available for my Mac :?

Quite sad and disappointed about this... I wish I had known before purchasing it!

Any idea when this will be available?

I think I have been dragged along the actively being worked on route, but dont have a ETA long enough.  I will NOT be renewing my subscription and placing my money with other software that has a complete solution availble.

And still no Modeler for MacOS (or iOS). They simply don't want to serve Apple users. What do you want with a 3D suite if an essential program is simply not implemented?

It's almost June 2025, and still no Adobe Modeler for Mac. At this point, it's probably best to invest elsewhere for 3D asset creation using Mac, which sucks because we've had licenses for years and they haven't been used. Adobe does realize that it gives other software companies an "in" where they had none before. It seems like Adobe feels a bit too secure about their dominance. Looks like a great opportunity for other companies.

As a "life long" user of Adobe products, I will say this is a big letdown for me. My team bought licenses for the 3D Suite and now they're useless. It definitely wasn't clear that Modeler DIDN'T come with the Suite. I'm hopeful we can cancel our subscription and get our money back. This is a black eye for Adobe as the Blender community gets high praise for it open model and supportive community. Once again, Adobe Support falls short. Back to Blender.

I hope there will be VR support with Mac, I understand the Windows version relies on Meta/Steam software for VR. Working with my hands in VR is the only reason I 3D model, without it I just can't connect to the artform.

I'm afraid at this point we're lucky if Modeler keeps being developed at all.
I'm shifting my tools away from Adobe anyway - we had fun while it lasted!
