count selected layers?

Hello everyone,
I want to create a script I map to Ctrl+E that would collapse selected layers if more than one layer is selected, otherwise do the regular Expand.
Is it possible to know how many layers are highlighted in the Layers panel?

No, I don't think collapsing layers or detecting highlighted layers is possible at the moment
