Text is glitching when I scroll

Hi

I've got a new laptop and since installing Indesign its been glitching the text when I scroll up and down (example attached). Adobe support couldn't help, I've reinstalled the application, I've reset preferences, I've done all the display performance correct settings etc and I'm now at my wits end. Also when I drag my text frame to a point (say 25) it doesnt think its there and hovers above the line instead of clicking to it but when I let it go its at the correct point. It is also making my guides in normal view look distorted.

If I zoom in or out it seems to correct the distortion but as soon as I scroll again another piece of text will go weird in another place. I also plugged in an external monitor and the same issue. This is happening on all InDesign documents, but not other text documents.

Is it my new laptop thats the issue?

Thanks, Nicola

Hi @Shopaholic_nic,

Thank you for sharing everything you have already tried. Since the GPU Performance option is unavailable, that can happen when the display resolution does not meet the minimum requirement for GPU support in InDesign. Ref: GPU Performance in Adobe InDesign. Could you please confirm your current screen resolution, and whether any custom scaling is enabled under Windows Display settings (Settings > System > Display)? Hi Abhishek
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. You have saved my sanity! It was indeed the scaling on my display which was set at 125%. So whilst I have a nice new larger laptop, I obviously cant benefit from it with InDesign. Never mind, at least now the 'glitch' is sorted.

Thanks again
Regards
Nicola

Do you have GPU Performance enabled in your InDesign preferences? If so, turn it off.

Could you please confirm your current screen resolution, and whether any custom scaling is enabled under Windows Display settings (Settings > System > Display)? If scaling is active, try adjusting it to see whether the rendering improves. Also, please let me know if you are using an external monitor and whether the distortion appears on both displays or only the laptop screen.

It would also help to confirm whether this glitch appears only in InDesign or in other Creative Cloud apps as well. Let me know if it happens consistently or intermittently, and if the issue is present with every file or just specific documents. Additionally, please try switching to a different refresh rate(Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display) and share whether that makes any difference.

I'm here to help and look forward to your update.

Abhishek
