I have been importing photos to lightroom classic on my macbook with no problem. Since the last update it will not import. It says importing photos and nothing happens, even when left for a long time. After cancelling it says that no photos with imported. I tried it with just one photo and in another catlog but there was no change.
@jpnc4 , your problem is you left a space, that will not work, use - or _ .
e.g. 6-7-2008-david.jpg .
Hope this works so we get some sleep.

Is this what you wanted? After I click import it says importing files and even if I leave it for a long time, nothing happens. When I finally cancel it, it says that nothing was imported.

With regards to the photo you have checked, although the file name is very small in your screen capture and difficult to read, it seems as if the file name has dots in the file name such as 6.7.2008.jpg. If that is so, I don't think LrC will import it and you will have to rename the photo such that it doesn't have any dots in the file name except the one directly in front of the file extension JPG

I don't know why they look like dots, since they are/ /, but they do. There are no extra dots in any of that group of photos.

What is the actual file name shown for the one checked photo?

The file name is 6/7/2008.jpg. I just changed it to remove all /. It still did not import.

This seems to be colons, not slashes.
Both should be avoided, and the colons might be the reason that LrC doesn't import.
To be on the safe side, use only letters a-z, numbers 0-9, hyphen and underscore in file names.

@Per Berntsen , good observation Per.
@jpnc4 , I believe you should try 6-7-2008.jpg or 6_7_2008.jpg as advised by
Per.

It worked! The slashes were the problem. You said that it won't work with spaces, but it does. I just imported 4 that had a space. Thank you so much for all your help.

I am puzzled because many of the photos i have previously imported have spaces and many of the ones I have had difficulty importing do not have spaces. I don't have others to import now, but I will see what happens in the future.
I do appreciate your help.
