Hi all, I'm a lifelong PC user who just bought a new Mac Mini M4 pro. I would like to transfer my existing LrC Catalog and 1.5 TB of photos from my PC to my new Mac Mini M4 pro. I've searched this site but couldn't really find specifics to my exact situation so excuse me if this is redundant information etc..
Excuse my ignorance, but I would like some expert advise before I attempt this transfer since I've read conflicting information on this process. I would like to keep this simple and intend to just use my existing external formatted NTFS drive from my PC which contains my catalog and all my photos and copy those files to another APFS formatted external hard drive on the new Mac.
My understanding is that that MacOS can read a NTFS drive but can't write to it so I'm assuming my intended method will work. That being said, most folks recommend formatting the PC external drive to exFat before I copy to the files to my new external APFS external drive on the Mac.
Will I have any issues using my existing external drive already formatted to NTFS or should I reformat the PC drive to exFat before I transfer the files to the new Mac? Any help would be appreciated before I attempt this process.

The idea of using exFAT is that you can use such a drive on a Mac and on a PC, but if all you want to do is copy the contents to an APFS drive, then there is no reason why you could not do that straight from the current NTFS drive. MacOS can indeed read NTFS, and that is all what is needed in this scenario.
