how to flatten belly

Trying to edit some pictures and it seems like the leather material is making it hard to edit. i tried to remove all of the texture and then use liquify but i cant quite get it

Remove all the texture? I think the problem is the reflection which makes the belly protrude. I'd try to remove the glare/reflection before using the Liquify tool.
