Issue with Video Comparison in Adobe Premiere Pro

New Here ,
Dec 05, 2025 Dec 05, 2025

Dear [Adobe Support/IT Team],

I am encountering an issue in Adobe Premiere Pro where the video displayed in the Program Monitor does not match the video in the Source Monitor during comparison. This discrepancy makes it difficult to validate edits accurately.

Details:

  • Application: Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Issue: Program Monitor and Source Monitor are not displaying the same video frames or quality.
  • Steps to reproduce:
    1. Load the video in the Source Monitor.
    2. Compare with the timeline playback in the Program Monitor.
    3. Notice the mismatch in frames/quality.
  • System details: [OS version, Premiere Pro version, GPU, RAM].

Please advise on troubleshooting steps or provide a solution to resolve this issue. Let me know if you need additional information or screenshots.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,

Dhevash. R

They are not intended to match 'in quality' ... note the names?

"Source Monitor" ... that is to show the source file ... before any modifications made on the timeline.

The Program monitor is the view after all changes made in Color Management to apply to that sequence, and any modifications to the image applied to it on that sequence, and any framing/sizing changes made to the image on the sequence.

So ... I'm puzzling out what specifically you are trying to see or check? I don't understand what you mean by "validating edits" ... are you talking cut points, framing, color corrections, what?.

Dear R Neil Haugen,

I noticed an issue with video playback in Adobe Premiere Pro. The same video plays smoothly in other media players, but when opened in Premiere Pro, it shows glitches during transitions.

To verify, I tested the same video on another machine using Adobe Premiere Pro, and it played smoothly there. This suggests the issue might be related to the current system configuration or settings.

Please advise on the next steps or any recommended troubleshooting.

Best regards,

Dhevash. R

For any troubleshooting, data must be given. OS/CPU/GPU/GPU driver, the media in use (framesize/rate, codec) and what created it, and the storage medium it 'lives' on in your computer for starters. Any plugins or 3rd party effects also.

The free utility app MediaInfo is handy to see exactly what any media file is in deep specifics. Install, drag/drop a clip on the utility's desktop icon, and when it pops open, go into the Tree view option. Make a screengrab of the video section, and drag/drop it onto the text reply area so it simply appears in the post itself.

MediaInfo download page.
