I think I found a solution!! The latest version of Lightroom Classic doesn't sync keywords even once anymore, and I tried everything I could think of to work around this huge problem. After all, what is the use of having 50,000 images at your fingertips if you can't find what you're looking for? Try this: Open Lightroom Classic. Open LR on your desktop as well. Physically drag and drop images from Classic to LR. Voila! All your keywords will be there. No, they don't sync, but that's ok with me. Good luck!!
By @ScanVT
The problem with that approach is that when using "drag and drop" into LrDesktop you are actually doing an Import, which means that you are putting originals into the cloud rather than the Smart Previews which LrC adds to the cloud when syncing directly. Consequently, each image that you add by "drag and drop" (or by standard Import) is then using up cloud storage space, and if you do that with all 50K images you're likely to need over 1TB of cloud space.
Also, you would still need to save metadata to XMP in LrC before importing into LrD in order to get the LrC-added keywords into the cloud.
And one more complication: if the image that you drag and drop into LrD from LrC is not already synced as a Smart Preview, when the "import" into LrD is complete a copy of that newly-added original is then downloaded back into LrC where it will appear as a new image in whatever download folder you have specified. So that would be in addition to the original image in LrC.

Moderators, @Rikk Flohr: Photography, please merge with this popular Idea, which is a little more general: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-ideas/p-have-develop-preset-parameters-viewable-inside-lightroom-after-creation/idi-p/12249989 Several people in that thread mention the problem of knowing which boxes to check when doing Update With Current Settings.

An important detail is that these vignetting effects are more noticeable when shooting at f/2.8. When I shoot at f/8 or f/11, the vignetting is not perceptible.
By @fernandoiecp
Yes, that's typical for most lenses – stopping down reduces vignetting.

I think your recollection is correct, Stephen, and I have some notes from 2019 about routinely using Bridge to write metadata into videos before importing them into Lightroom Classic. That would have been with Bridge 2017, so the black and gold icon which for some now-forgotten reason I carried on using after the update which had the black icon (it would have been some metadata feature Adobe screwed up).
Now with Bridge 2025 (15.0.2) on Mac the File Info is disabled, just as Edgar5A7 has found on Windows.
As for a solution, I'm not sure there's a better one in the Adobe world. Exiftool will extract the metadata, but maybe not in the form that's helpful.
By the way, we're probably looking for EXIF and IPTC metadata, not XMP as in the thread title.

Yes. i have ~75 days of a show I do at Ren Faire recorded. They are all on SSDs M.2 and some Externals. The projects are spread across drives... when I pull them in from media browser (the most efficient way to edit 8-10 hours of a whole day) they're all default 00000.mts and I cannot rename them without ruining the ability to import the whole day under 1 file

I think we're most all aware we can buy another tool for doing what SHOULD already be IN the tool. Wow 'bout Adobe puts it INTO Lightroom.

Just wondered whether there's been an update on this? I also seem to recall it being possible at some point in the past via holding down the shift or comand key, and not only in ACR (which I never use). Just workign on some files that really highlights the frustration of having to keep repeating three steps to make a multiple Object selection for one mask (Add > Object > make section). Logically, Maskig should allow repeated selections for Objects, the way it does with Brush. The process seems so time-consuming I decided to document the steps required on the next edit, a coat with 5 metals clasps, of which 3 are open, making a total of 8 seperate Objects. They all require the same treatment (so I want them on one mask). The process to achieve this feels frustratingly lengthy due to the number of clicks required to repeat steps (and the fact that LrC keeps closing the Mask tool in between). Mask > Create New Mask > Objects > make selection: x 11, a total of 33 steps (should only need to do this once, at the start, but LrC keeps closing the Mask tool). Select mask > Add > Object > make section: x 8 times, 24 steps (ie for initial selection of 8 objects objects with a hard outline). Select mask > Subtact > Select Object > make selection: 10 times, 30 steps (because although Select Object picks the clasp, it also picks some of the leather strips attaching it, which I don't want - but selecting with Brush > AutoMask is even less accurate). Select mask > Subtact > Brush x 3, 9 steps. (This (mercifully) works logically, allowing repeated actions without requiring the tool to be re-selected each time). Select mask to edit (again) > Add > Brush x 3, 9 steps. I now have an 8 object mask consisting of 22 different sub-masks, which I estimate it took at least 105 steps to achieve - ie mouse click tool selections, not counting brushstrokes. I searched for the comment made by an Adobe professional saying a ticket has been raised but was unable to find anything. Does anyone have any insights?

Hi I'm Blake, a wildlife photographer from South Africa. I just want to know if the dev team at Adobe are willing to create a feature that allows you to layer presets in Lightroom Mobile for iPhones. e.g. when you apply a (Exposure +2) Preset and then being able to apply a (HDR +1) Preset on top. Please note: These are my own Presets, and not the (Users Presets). Kind regards, Blake

@robert36972564: "Searching/Filtering and also creating Smart-Collections based on fields like Model Release Status or Property Release Status would be appreciated. Also Event and Job ID / Transmission Reference would be nice." I also think it's unlikely this will ever be implemented. Meanwhile, you could use the Any Filter plugin: or the Search and Replace plugin.

Me: "If you want to change existing keywords and their structure, while preserving their assignments to photos, you'll need to use the Any Tag plugin's Export/Import Keywords commands." You: "I need the possibility to export the structure, edit the tag AND the structure and import it again." This is precisely what the Any Tag plugin's Import/Export Keywords commands do -- did you try it? You can rearrange the hierarchy and rename keywords without affecting the assignment of keywords to photos. It uses the internal database identifiers of the keywords to maintain the relationship between your changes and the original keywords.

Hi, I have also been wanting to use some vectorscopes and waveforms in my workflow. I created a interface which can display the most common scopes for a certain part of your screen (basically you define a region of interest which is being tracked). Its free and it is not super fancy, but for me it does the trick. You can download it on github https://github.com/JulianOstertag/Vectorscopes-and-Waveforms

But how can a change of the destination help when I have a problem with the source? Because it is a well known problem (at least among some of us) that the incorrect settings in Destination cause this to happen. So, make sure the destination panel is expanded, and that it points to a folder that actually exists. For example see https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/unable-to-import-photos-to-lightroom/m-p/9353361

I have issues with an iMac, M1. Since LRC 13 it's been a slowdown, extra hours. I upgraded my SSD where I keep my large catalog to Thunderbolt NVME 8 TB, 6 TB free and LRC has been abysimal. Sometimes deleting/resetting the preferences helps,. It has really affected my productivity and deadlines. I wish Adobe would bring back a lighter version of LRC, like the v 12, less AI features, but a working Library module.

I've just filed a feature request to update the FAQ page https://help.myportfolio.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036483773-Embed-module to include code to embed an Instagram grid.
The code is:
<iframe src="http://instagram.com/USERNAME/embed" width="800" height="800" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>
The crucial details are:
that the Instagram USERNAME is followed by "/embed"
that in Instagram > Settings > Sharing and Re-use, you need to enable Website embeds

Hi Bob - question for you: In LrC 14.1.1, I go to Library > Metadata > Customize > Customize Metadata Default Panel, and am able to check the Preserve File Name box. So the next time I went to import new images, upon import, I went to Apply During Import > Metadata > New OR Edit Presets - and either way, the Preserve File Name doesn't come up as an option. What am I missing here? Is there a different way to be sure the original filename is accessible on renamed images (whether done during import, edits, or export)? In case it's helpful, I import IMG_1234.cr2 images, and export them as ABC-1.jpg, ABC-2.jpg. I want to be able to access the IMG_1234 filename when viewing the exported ABC-1.jpg image. (Attaching screenshots of the Default Panel and Presets for reference.) Thanks so much!

Currently just some Python Code and can be opened with this Python 3.11 Microsoft app (I am sure there (https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9NRWMJP3717K?hl=en-us&gl=GB&ocid=pdpshare) but will make it into a proper Application (Exe) when I get time. I will do a post in the forum when I have finalised it a bit more 🙂 Open to a Lightroom app, but I imagine its a long process to get it approved? It's just a tool I have created I want to eventually share. Python Download site https://www.python.org/

I think it helps a lot of people, so I normally add a couple of other guiding ideas:
"Folders are meant for storage, and they're inflexible as a way of categorising pictures."
Use keywords and other metadata fields for categorising and describing your photos
Use collections for collecting and gathering photos as and when you need them

I wound up getting a Lenovo Legion for $2800. It's essentially a gaming laptop. More than I intended to pay, but the superior graphics - latest Nvidia chipset with 16 GB of GPU RAM - was hard to resist. Haven't had a chance to run it through some heavy work, but overall it seems super responsive. From reading the recommended requirements for Lightroom and Premiere Pro, it should br more than capable.

Shift-click the badge helped me a lot. Thank you. Also, to the other folks watching this thread: it might help if "we" provided a suggested method of implementing what we are wanting. Should it be that always when you pick a collapsed stack that all modifications apply to all of the images? Or perhaps if the user double clicks? Or perhaps if the user option clicks on the badge? Another thought is the first shift click on the badge selects all the images but does not expand the stack. The second shift click would expand the stack. There are many options I suppose...
