Using Windows File Explorer, navigate to wherever the correct catalog is stored, and double click on it as to open it in LrC. And assuming that in launches, check the settings for what catalog should be opened upon starting LrC.

Library Path: C:\files\lightroom\new-files\new files-v13-4.lrcat How large is that C drive? And how much free space? Looking for at least 20% free, some say 25% free. And is this performance degradation in both Library and Develop ?

At least when i login now with Chrome (instead of Firefox) Their is at least two members who apparently launch LrC via CC on the web, via an Internet Browser. Are you attempting by that route? The install of the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App should have created a shortcut icon for that app. And using that app to install the creative apps like LrC should have created shortcuts for those as well. Most members use those shortcuts to start LrC, PS, etc. Have you tried that? Some issue might be currently occurring at Adobe for the via Internet Browser method.

B.T.W. you are auto syncing to OneDrive,(although apparently some sync has failed) that is bad, I blame Microsoft fir that. Your catalog is probably in a user system library/folder (users, pictures, documents, music, videos) that gets automatically synced to OneDrive. This happens by default if you use a MS account to login to Windows. MS is very heavy handed in attempting to force MS accounts as opposed to local accounts. Consider moving your catalog to a different folder, a root folder with a name you like, say MyPhotography, MyLightroom,Rumpelstiltskin,GrumpyOldFart, anything other than User, Pictures, Downloads, Documents, Videos, etc. Why is this a problem? Because auto syncing to OneDrive means constant chit chat to/from the cloud, busy busy busy. With each edit, with each mid, with perhaps even just looking cross st LrC, a sync to OneDrive occurs. This will effect performance, and may eventually (rarely) lead to catalog corruption. You will see in this community at least one discussion stating LrC and OneDrive are made in heaven (with reply's of, no, made in hell) And many discussions about avoiding it.

Windows 11 Home N (installed media feature pack 1000.26100.48.0), Version 24H2, OS build 26100.3194 So no bloat ware, and you apparently fixed the lack of required (for LrC, etc) Media Pack, as addressed in: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/lightroom-basic-troubleshooting-fix-most-issues.html Can I assume that you restarted (not shut down, but restarted) your computer after installing the Media Pack? Intel Core i9-12900H 2.50 GHz So, based on that CPU, I take it this computer is a laptop. But what make and model? Oh, and something to attempt (if you have not already attempted). If you were able to download and install the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App, but installing LrV v14.2 fails from it, and current PS as well, attempt an older version. Specifically with LrC v14.2, lack of AVX2 support has become critical, now looking at your CPU that should not be the case, but.... (PS was picky on this earlier)

That's when i try to download, not even when trying to install. Is this when you download the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App, or after? After a bit of rethinking, and a bit of research, I suspect you were attempting to download and install LrC, from an Adobe product page. Another member is having a similar issue (does not see an app in that members case). Perhaps a page like this: https://www.adobe.com/apps/all/all-platforms/pdp/lightroom-classic That method is a bit odd. Normal method is to install the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App, then install the various Creative Cloud Apps thru that. By the way, PS first https://creativecloud.adobe.com/apps/download/creative-cloud P.S. if you were attempting to avoid installing the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App, you would have failed as it would have installed along with LrC had that method worked. 'Also, I wonder if Adobe has a bug on those web pages.

Looking at your screenshot of your Windows File Explorer, showing where your catalogs are, a few observations/questions You mentioned that you attempted to backup on OneDrive, But what about backups on your hard drives? I see a backup folder that is a subfolder on the hard drive containing your catalogs, in fact in the same folder structure as the catalogs. Are your backups in that folder? Why? Backups should not be on the same hard drive as the working files, that C drive dies, then both the working and the backups die. Those other hard drives, any backups in them? I see that your current catalog is very much smaller in file space from the previous. What about any backups when uncompressed?? Also, what version is LrC now? What version was it in December? File names would imply v12, but that is probably a false lead. And, how much actual importing occurred between December and now? If a LrC upgrade fouled up a catalog upgrade, and you attempted to open, and perhaps as a result upgrade the December catalog, would you loose much? (assuming back in December a very different LrC was in effect)

I notice that you may also have a few folders that have gone missing (although a few of those may be capitalization issues). After seeing if you have in fact the capitalization issue, and fixing that, see if you still have missing folders. see: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/capitalization-catalog-error/ Your LrC catalog, being a database, can have issues if the file management gets fouled up, all those missing folders, and any missing photos, should be fixed. A cluttered or fouled up database can cause LrC to go south..

I notice that a few of your folders, are in effect, duplicated. Now, I do not doubt that if you bring up your Windows File Explorer, that you will find out they are not actually duplicated. I suspect that you might have a capitalization issue. This might not be the cause of your posted issue, but is something to check for and fix see: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/capitalization-catalog-error/ .

Let's skip Lr or LrC for now, although v14.2 would be classic. Your copy of the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App. Is it running (as it should) and are you signed in? And if you are signed in, consider signing out, then signing in as a possible diagnostic, and a possible fix. That is IF YOU HAVE INTERNET. at the time you attempt this. Note, the account (typically email address ) you sign in is the one you used when you subscribed (normally the same as used for this community)

Power Supply: Battery And if you connect that laptop to a power source as opposed to running off the battery, does in perform in LrC better? It might be throttling down (power), especially the CPU, and GPU.

Fairly sure you can download ADOBE CAMERA RAW from an Adobe site. It is free. using google, this one is shown: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-in-installer.html others probably exist. Also, in your copy of Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop, select All Apps, Camera RAW might be included, you are probably looking at Installed Apps.

I had the same problem. One of Adobe's solutions is is to remove Creative Cloud and all associated apps. It's not easy when your computer is hobbled by CC. Then reinstall CC and your apps. I haven't reinstalled, because I'm trying to find a way to install Lightroom Classic only, and none of the other baggage Adobe throws in. By @steve_5362 Did you use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleanup tool for that removal? Or did you simply use your OS uninstall procedure to uninstall one app at a time. The latter is inefficient and incomplete. The CC Cleanup tool is a big hammer but easier, quicker more complete, and what Adobe recommends when runnining into nasty nasty problems with any CC app. Note that their is also a Adobe procedure to uninstall the Creative Cloud Desktop app. As for installing only LrC, in the Creative Cloud Desktop App (and yes you do need that) simply select only LrC for install. Simply do not select PS, Lr, Bridge, or Camera RAW for install. https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html

Is your working catalog on OneDrive, or being automatically synced to OneDrive. IMO both are bad, especially working from OneDrive. And if just Auto Sync, then performance will take a hit and the catalog can get corrupted in rare instances. Consider placing LrC catalog(s) in folders that are not associated to OneDrive sync. Consider creating a root leval folder named something like MyLightroom, MyPhotos, Rumpelstiltskin, whatever you like but not user system library's like user, pictures, desktop, downloads, videos, If you bring up LrC /help/system info/ and the library path includes OneDrive in the path name, then it is auto sync, and you may be asking for trouble. P.S. unless you have paid for extra cloud space, OneDrive might be a lousy space to backup to.

Can you post in a reply your LrC /Preferences/Performance/,? Interested in the previews options Also, as to using that NAS, just for the photo storage location, is that due to space constraints? Many members run into performance issues doing that, might depend on the NAS, The NAS OS, NAS services, NAS settings, and OS file management settings. Perhaps a heavy NAS use member can comment. I
