Using Windows File Explorer, navigate to wherever the correct catalog is stored, and double click on it as to open it in LrC. And assuming that in launches, check the settings for what catalog should be opened upon starting LrC.

Drive c is 1TB ssd drive, with 800GB free space. It is in develop and library. I found out that every time I open the app, it is recreating all the XMP files for the that catalog, and that is why it is slow. (see atached photo) Is that normal ? Shouldn't it be done only once per catalog ?

Almost a dead post I know, but I am following up. I recently updated my motherboard BIOS to the most recent version and turned off all overclocking on my PC. This improved my PC stability significantly. It seems while the PC was stable after the initial build in 2022, 2 years later for some reason it had grown unstable, likely related to the i9-13900K CPU as I read online about issues with the voltage on that chip. Everything is working great now.

At least when i login now with Chrome (instead of Firefox) Their is at least two members who apparently launch LrC via CC on the web, via an Internet Browser. Are you attempting by that route? The install of the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App should have created a shortcut icon for that app. And using that app to install the creative apps like LrC should have created shortcuts for those as well. Most members use those shortcuts to start LrC, PS, etc. Have you tried that? Some issue might be currently occurring at Adobe for the via Internet Browser method.

An update on this. I reset my preferences to see if that made a difference - unfortunately not. It still came up with the error as before. I then chatted with an Adobe agent online and he got me to open a different catalog on my PC and see if the issue occured in that. It didn't. I sync'd a lot of keywords and titles with no issues. So that really meant that I had a catalog with some sort of corruption that wasn't cleared by the normal "check integrity" options. He suggested that I created a new catalog and then export all the image details from the old faulty catalog into this new one. He logged onto my machine (with my permission) to do this for me and start the copying process, which ran for about 12 hours. I woke to an error that said that LR was unable import this catalog because of an unknown error. I accepted the error message and closed LR, but when I opened it again, everything seemed to be working fine. All my 139000 images are there (although no previews yet) and I have been doing some keywording and syncing without issues so far. Steve

... I’m curious because I’ve had random software issues before and never thought RAM could be the culprit. ...
By @microprogramers_1834
Random software issues and crashes are very difficult to find.
The possible reasons can be:
faulty software, software bugs
driver incompatibilities
general software issues
hardware faults like hard drive errors, RAM errors, other mainboards errors
system overheating
If you have software issues the first step should be to check your system if it's up-to-date. Check also the website of the board manufacturer if there are update for device drivers, chipset driver, BIOS etc. are available
The next step is a clean reinstallation of the relevant software product.
If this doesn't help you should to a clean reinstallation of your whole system, operating system and applications.
If the issues are already doesn't solved check your hardware with the appropriate diagnotics software. Usually, there are for every modern mainboard the appropriate tools on board. Goto the mainboard setup with the appropriate short key, like "Del", "F2" or "F10" .

"I'm Importing straight from the SD card via the SD card slot on my Mac, so I'm guessing external drive. If this info helps.....I just removed my SD card from the slot and LRC gave me an explanation mark on the photos meaning it couldn't access the originals." It sounds like you're using a Cfexpress memory card, a type of memory card much faster than SD cards. When you import, you're using the Add option, which tells LR to leave the photo on the card. When you remove the card, LR can no longer access the photos, so it marks them with "!". It appears that Denoise doesn't like writing the denoised DNGs back to the card. With the more widely used SD cards, LR doesn't provide the Add option, just Copy, and Import copies the photos to whichever folder on your hard drive you've specified in Import. But Mac OS treats Cfexpress cards like external drives and tells LR that's what they are, so LR provides you with the Add option, which can lead to confusion (as you've experienced). So instead of using Import's Add option, use Copy to copy imported photos to the Mac's local drive (e.g. under the Pictures folder).

Imagine being able to batch process one texture over an entire photo gallery of like 100 images all at once, this is something photoshop cant do and why this would be insanely powerful and unique for lightroom classic!

Hey, @simon28997170cvbr. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out.
The specific lens isn't supported, as per https://adobe.ly/4hrKqb8;
What format are the lens correction profiles you've received? You can follow this conversation to import Lens Profiles manually: https://adobe.ly/3FhpxCd
Let me know if it helps. Thanks! Sameer K

Perhaps a video capture of your failing process will help demonstrate the issue with your brush within in a mask. and see: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/masking.html https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/learning-center/how-to-record-screen-windows-11

@dj_paige FYI an upgrade to LrC v14 does not change the catalog filename as happened in the past. Changing a catalog name is now a Menu item: File > Rename Catalog... Many users with v14 now have catalogs named -v13-3 or similar.
See an explanation in this Lightroom Queen link "Catalog Upgrade (Classic)" (about halfway on the page)
https://www.lightroomqueen.com/whats-new-in-lightroom-2024-10/
@roelv55517707 "I have never really used the catalogues." You must use at least one catalog. Lr-Classic does not work without a catalog.
And good advice from @GoldingD - Get your catalog out of one-drive!
And I agree with the 'deletion' suggestions by @AxelMatt

Wow, thanks GoldingG for the quick replies! When i tried to download the creative cloud app to install the other, the download worked but i got a DMG file. I search how to use them... It looks like i should have searched "what are dmg files" instead... just saw they are MacOS files. I have no idea why adobe's site thinks i have a Mac. That's probably what cause the earlier compability problems. This was with my Opera browser. I just tried with another browser (Brave) and... it works! Everything was downloading perfectly fine 🙂

"I had to type in my serial number, which I did -" Lightroom-Classic v14.2 does not use or need a Serial Number. Serial numbers ended with version 6.14 several years ago.
You need a current paid subscription to the Photography Plan (or the new Lightroom Plan), and be signed in with the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App. Signing in activates the Adobe Apps.

@jonathan_freeman Your screenshots indicate you are working on One Drive. Why? Have you moved all your files to One Drive? If so, very bad idea. You need to to be working on your local hard drive, not on One Drive. As @GoldingD points out, your most recent catalog by date is very much smaller than the previous one. Less than half the size. This indicates a major problem. I don't see a capitalization problem. The missing folders that have a duplicate have the same case, eg. there are two "Coastal Views", each with 185 photos, but one is marked as missing. This looks like a folder problem in the catalog. Is there anything wrong with "Lightroom Catalog-2-v12.lrcat"?

Since I've been having this issue for several days and been trying to fix it, I have both tried while fully charged not plugged in, plugged in somewhat charged, unplugged, low battery, full battery, the lot. No overheating, havent had any issues that seem to indicate throttling issue 😞 I say several days not in the sense that it has worked but stopped, it's my first time wanting to try it after updating lightroom and have some photos in urgent need of this feature to fix noise levels properly.

Pessoal, obrigado pelas orientações. Vi algumas orientações quanto a driver e bateria.

@dcooper7: "Does anyone know of a workaround that allows this information to be visible while editing in the Develop Module, without switching to the Library Module? Any plugins, external tools, or tweaks that could help?" See here for how to edit LR's preference file to display the 35mm equivalent (when it's recorded in EXIF metadata by the camera -- many cameras don't): https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/how-to-display-location-information-in-loupe-view/m-p/14375008#M353898 The internal identifier for that field is "com.adobe.focalLength35mm".
