number of users?

Hi,  Need a few basic questions answered:

If I set up a BC for a client for ecommerce,  there is one fee for one user and one for 5 users. How are users defined?  If I have one client who has multiple staff, but only one account,  what are they talking about?  If I set it up as a partner, I need to allow them to log in to add or change inventory, e.g.  This may be one dedicated person, or several; or one person using multiple computers.

What is the "branding" on the first paid partner step?  I design the site for the client, But it has ADOBE CATALYIST written all over the site?  That is not helpful for the client's Branding.

Thanks.

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

There should be no reference to BC on your clients public site unless you put it there. The only references would be the admin panel unless you are a Premium partner and rebranded it to your own company.

The one other user is a single log account. It can be  used by as many people as your client wishes and on however many computers they want.

As for the BC on your clients site, can you provide a link?

I am just investigating BC, so no client site yet.  I'm trying to figure out if it is easy or hard for a client to use, esp with ecommerce... adding individual products and pictures, e.g.

Also it seems the template choices seem very limited, coming from a Dreamweaver, custom designer's perspective...

You do not need to use a BC template. If you are familiar with Dreamweaver you can easily create your own templates.

For more great templates you can check out:

http://www.bcgurus.com

But I totally agree that the ones to choose from within BC are severely lacking and I myself have not used any of them. But again, you don't need to use an already made template if you are already comfortable making templates in Dreamweaver.

If I become a partner, and have one client,  at 20% it would take me over 10 years to recover my costs.

If I later add 2 more clients and I choose to upgrade to standard partner,  would the original client be added into my 20% commission?

Most of my current clients would not benefit from(or would not choose  ) BC  at this point.   Besides the fact that is would cut into my residual income on my current hosting services.

If I become a partner, and have one client,  at 20% it would take me over 10 years to recover my costs.

Or you could look at it as if you are a partner you get your own full eComm plan for your own site for free for as long as you want. So you takt that $40 a month and add to that your commissions it doesn't take long before it is actually making money.

Also, you can charge your clients whatever you wish for the BC hosting.  So yes, you are encouraged to actually mark up the prices as you see fit.

And then there is the server/feature maintenance ... always done for you and will always work. For example, 1and1.com hosting just updated their servers and now all sites that are not php5+ will no longer work. So someone has to upgrade all of those sites now.

There are so many reasons to choose BC .......

If I later add 2 more clients and I choose to upgrade to standard partner,  would the original client be added into my 20% commission?

No it wouldn't.

Sorry to go back to such an old link, but I cannot get someone to answer my question, and hoped someone here may be able to help...

I need to create event modules, for a single company with ten separate branches nationwide.

Each branch needs to access only their "own" event bookings in their own area, not everyone elses ones.

Is this possible under the plan with 10 users, or do I need to make 10 different e-commerce sites and pay 10 subscriptions?

Would appreciate help on this, as it's difficult to understand without having first purchased the ecommerce site (I'm quoting them at this point).

Thanks in advance. I've been waiting 6 days and still no answer, and my client is probably going to go elsewhere if I can't give him an answer soon... or can someone point me to somewhere I could get this answered. Sorry, posted first in Newbie corner, then in e commerce section... and still none the wiser... Help?!
